Initiatives to Improve the Quality of Education Related to Teacher Training
Hachioji Campus Initiatives
Teikyo University Center for Teacher Education
The Teacher Training Center provides not only consultations and guidance on obtaining teaching licenses and childcare worker qualifications, as well as practical training, but also support for teacher recruitment selection exams and job placement in childcare and welfare-related fields.
Faculty of Education Faculty Development Committee works to improve the qualifications and abilities of faculty members responsible for educational activities by holding several "study sessions" throughout the year, setting up a "classroom open week" where faculty members observe each other's classes, and creating "Internal inspection and evaluation reports."
Furthermore, with the aim of deepening faculty understanding of students, a "Student Life Survey" is conducted every academic year for all students in Faculty of Education. The questionnaire items are created with the participation of students, and include questions about classes. The survey results are discussed at faculty research meetings.
Collaboration with Teikyo University Graduate School of Teacher Education
In response to the social demand for "advanced teacher training," the university's teacher training courses and the Teacher Training Center cooperate with the Teikyo University Graduate School of Teacher Education. Specifically, we are implementing a consistent collaborative program between the undergraduate and Graduate School as a system to make it easier for students to advance to Graduate School.

Efforts in class
In order to increase the motivation of those who wish to teach, we hold lectures by in-service teachers who have graduated from our university and tour classes at nearby junior high schools and high schools in the "Teaching Practice Practice" class.
In addition, reading is recommended in order to acquire a certain ability as an education expert, and in the class of "teaching profession theory", students have "listening ability", "reading ability", "thinking ability", and "organizing ability" in order to learn by themselves. We are devising ways to acquire the ability to make presentations. As an example, students are working in groups of four to read and discuss materials and write reports on the assignments presented by the teacher during class time.
Class visits among teachers
By allowing teachers to visit each other and share information, we are working to improve the lessons so that each teacher can create high-quality lessons by confirming the students' learning in the lessons.
Student participation in "Tochigi's Educational Future School"
We encourage students to participate in the training of "Tochigi Educational Future School" held by the Tochigi Prefectural Education Center. Here, you can interact with local teachers and students from other universities aiming for a teaching profession, and by learning with young teachers who are teaching at the actual school site, you can understand the basic matters as a teacher and teach profession. You can increase your passion and sense of mission. There are also small group discussions where faculty members and students learn together.
Teacher Training Program Self-Assessment and Evaluation Report
Teikyo University and Teikyo University Junior College conduct self-assessments and evaluations to continuously improve the quality of their teacher training programs.
