  • The number of applicants for each term is the total number of applicants for Phase I and Phase II.
  • The transfer enrollment period will be April 2023.
  • Those who transfer to the second year may only study for three years and may not stay for more than six years.
  • Those who transfer to the third year may only study for two years and may not stay for more than four years.
  • *In each course of the Department of Language Studies, Faculty of Language Studies, non-Japanese nationals are not allowed to select courses in their native language or mother tongue.

Transfer Admission (2nd year)

Person who falls under any of the following

  • Those who have graduated from a university or junior college under the School Education Law or those who are expected to graduate in March 2023.
  • Those who have attended a university under the School Education Law for at least one year and earned at least 31 credits, or those who are expected to earn said number of credits by March 2023.
  • Those who have graduated from a college of technology under the School Education Law or are expected to graduate in March 2023.
  • Those who have completed, or will complete by March 2023, a special training course at a special training college in accordance with the School Education Law, which requires a minimum of two years of study and a total of at least 1,700 hours, or 62 credits.
  • Those who have completed, or will complete in March 2023, a major course of study at a high school, etc. under the School Education Law (a course of study lasting at least two years and meeting the standards specified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology).
  • Graduates of either the former National Training School for School Nursing Teachers or the former National Training School for Industrial Teachers.
  • Those who have completed, or are expected to complete by March 2023, 14 or more years of formal education in a foreign country, or those who are equivalent thereto.
  • Those who have studied for at least one year at a regular college or university in a foreign country and have earned the equivalent of 31 credits or more, or those who are expected to earn the equivalent by March 2023.

Transfer Admission (3rd year)

Person who falls under any of the following

  • Those who have graduated from a university or junior college under the School Education Law or those who are expected to graduate in March 2023.
  • Those who have attended a university under the School Education Law for at least two years and earned at least 62 credits, or those who are expected to earn said number of credits by March 2023.
  • Those who have graduated from a college of technology under the School Education Law or are expected to graduate in March 2023.
  • Those who have completed, or will complete by March 2023, a special training course at a special training college in accordance with the School Education Law, which requires a minimum of two years of study and a total of at least 1,700 hours, or 62 credits.
  • Those who have completed, or will complete in March 2023, a major course of study at a high school, etc. under the School Education Law (a course of study lasting at least two years and meeting the standards specified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology).

Transfer Admission for Working Adults

At the time of transfer to a university, the applicant must have graduated from a university, junior college, college of technology, special training school, or high school as designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (including dropouts from universities), have completed a major course at such a school at least three years prior to the date of transfer, and be at least 23 years old (25 years or older for university graduates) as of April 1, 2023 (including those who are not yet employed), and meet one of the following conditions:

  • Those who have graduated from a university, junior college, or college of technology under the School Education Law.
  • Those who have attended a university under the School Education Law for at least one year and earned at least 31 credits (2nd year transfer).
  • Those who have attended a university under the School Education Law for at least two years and earned at least 62 credits (3nd year transfer).
  • Those who have completed a specialized training course at a special training college under the School Education Law with a minimum of 2 years of study and a minimum of 1,700 total class hours, or 62 credits, required for completion.
  • Those who have completed a major course of study at a high school, etc. under the School Education Law (a course of study lasting at least two years and meeting the standards specified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology).
  • Those who have completed 14 or more years of formal education in a foreign country.

Selection Process

  1. Departamental proficiency test (1 subject)
  2. Document screening.
  3. Interview:
    Transfer Admission exam: About 10 minutes per person
    Transfer Examination for Working Adults: about 10 minutes per person

The applicant will be judged comprehensively on a pass/fail basis, with emphasis on the written examination.
Applicants who miss the written exam will not be allowed to take the interview.
If an applicant misses the interview, all test results will be invalid.
