About School of Medicine entrance exams

Number of students to be admitted

The 120-student enrollment quota for School of Medicine includes 10 provisional students approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, valid until the 2026 academic year. Regarding the handling of the provisional student quota for the 2027 academic year, we plan to apply for approval for the same number of students (10) as the provisional quota for the 2026 academic year, as well as for additional students. However, this is not yet finalized, and details will be announced on the university's website and other channels as soon as they are confirmed.

The number of applicants for each examination category is based on the number of applicants. If the pass criteria are not met, the number of successful applicants may not reach the number of applicants.

  • * 1 We implement a public offering system (exclusive application).
  • * 2 The selection of the common test for university admission is conducted only in the first admission.
  • *3 The 77-seat capacity includes one person from the Ibaraki Prefecture special region quota.
  • * We plan to apply to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology this autumn for approval to fill 9 temporary positions. The breakdown of these temporary positions is as follows: Fukushima Prefecture Special Regional Quota (2 people), Chiba Prefecture Special Regional Quota (2 people), Shizuoka Prefecture Special Regional Quota (2 people), Ibaraki Prefecture Special Regional Quota (1 person), Niigata Prefecture Special Regional Quota (1 person), and Gunma Prefecture Special Regional Quota (2 people).
  • *5 We plan to recruit for the following special regional quotas in the general selection: Fukushima Prefecture Regional Medical Physician Recruitment Scholarship (2 people), Chiba Prefecture Medical Student Loan Program (2 people), Shizuoka Prefecture Medical Training Fund (2 people), Ibaraki Prefecture Regional Medical Physician Loan Program (2 people), Niigata Prefecture Medical Training Loan Program Priority Course (1 person), and Gunma Prefecture Emergency Physician Recruitment Scholarship Loan Program (2 people).

Secondary selection

Only those who pass the first selection and apply for the second selection will be considered for admission based on their scores in the subjects designated by the university in the 2027 Common University Entrance Examination. This will be determined comprehensively, including the total score of the four highest-scoring subjects and the results of the first selection.

  • *1 For "English," the score for reading (maximum 100 points) and listening (maximum 100 points) will be compressed to a maximum of 50 points each, and the combined score will be used.   • * 2 If you take two or more subjects, the subject with the highest score is adopted for pass or fail judgment.

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements and be recommended by a high school or secondary school principal.

  • Applicants must be expected to graduate from a high school or secondary school in March 20278 and be able to adapt to a six-year medical education program that includes practical training.
  • Those who have a grade of 4.0 or higher in the entire survey for their grades up to the first semester of the final year of high school or secondary school.
  • Applicants must be able to make a firm commitment to enroll if accepted.

If you take School of Medicine Department of Medicine over two or three days, the pass/fail decision will be based on the day on which you receive the highest total score for the three subject areas of the academic exam on each exam day.

Selection Process

Primary selection

In the 2027 Common University Entrance Examination, admission will be determined based on the scores in the subjects and courses designated by this university.
3-Subject System: Pass or fail will be determined by the total score of the three subjects with the highest scores.
5-Subject System: Pass or fail will be determined by the total score of the five subjects with the highest scores.
For The Common Test for University Admissions selection, application to the 3-subject method is mandatory, and you may apply to the 5-subject method in addition. You cannot apply to the 5-subject method without first applying to the 3-subject method.

Secondary selection

Only those who pass the first selection will be given an English test (long-form reading comprehension), a written essay test, and an interview, and a comprehensive decision will be made on whether or not they are accepted, including the results of the first selection.
・If you have not taken the English (long-form reading comprehension) test or the essay test, you will be considered absent from the test on the day and will not be able to take the interview.
If you miss the interview, all test results will be invalid.

  • *3 Combinations of "two mathematics subjects" are not permitted. If you take three or more subjects, the two highest scores will be used to determine whether you pass or fail.
  • *4 If you take four or more subjects, the three highest scores will be used to determine your pass/fail status.
