*4As a general rule, all students in the Department of Language Studies of the Faculty of Language Studies are required to study abroad in the second semester of their second year. Non-Japanese nationals may not select courses in their native language or mother tongue. Destinations for study abroad vary depending on the course. The English Course is offered in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Malaysia; the German Course is offered in Germany; the French Course is offered in France and Canada; the Spanish Course is offered in Spain; the Chinese Course is offered in China and Taiwan; and Korean Course is offered in the Republic of Korea (Destinations are subject to change for various reasons.) As a general rule, students are required to apply for a visa. If a visa is not issued, the student will not be able to study abroad.
* 5As a general rule, the Department of Global Japanese Studies in the Faculty of Language Studies offers a language and culture training program for all students in the first semester of their second year. The destinations are the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia (destinations are subject to change for various reasons). International students will be placed at partner universities in Japan. In principle, visa applications are required. If a visa is not issued, the student will not be able to study abroad. Of the 150 applicants, 50 will be accepted through the Special Entrance Examination for International Students. For details on application, please refer to "Special Entrance Examination for International Students 2023."

The English score and the interview score will be combined for each test day, and the day with the highest score will be selected.
English external test use system Candidates may use the results of an external English examination if they apply at the time of application and meet the standard score requirement of the English qualification or certification test designated by the university. For the Faculty of Language Studies' School Recommendation Type Selection (Open Enrollment System), the English subject's grade will be converted to the grade that corresponds to the grade received. Even if you use the English external examination system, you must take the English subject at the university, and the higher score of either the "Gained Score" or the "Converted Score" will be used for the pass/fail decision. Payment system for admission procedure (Phase I only) Applicants who have been accepted for Phase I may pay the admission fee by the first deadline and the remaining amount by the second deadline. However, the applicant will be deemed to have no intention of enrolling and admission will be revoked if the admission fee is not paid by the first deadline or the remaining balance is not paid by the second deadline.

Selection Process
Pass or fail will be determined using the sum of the top three scores on the 2023 Common Test for University Admissions in the subjects and courses chosen by the university. The university won't administer any individual achievement tests.

In the Department of Language Studies' English Course, and Department of Global Japanese Studies, English is calculated in two ways: Reading (100 points) is converted to 150 points, and Listening (100 points) is added to Reading (100 points), which is converted to 120 points, and Listening (100 points) is compressed to 30 points, then the higher score will be selected.
