Pharmacists, experts in medicine, play an important role in medical care alongside doctors and nurses, and their importance is rapidly increasing. Teikyo University's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences not only trains students in advanced medical knowledge and techniques, but also in basic fields such as chemistry, to develop pharmacists who are well-rounded and have a scientific eye. We take advantage of the excellent medical education environment, including School of Medicine affiliated hospital, to provide practical, on-the-job training.

Teikyo Yakugakukai

The Teikyo Yakugakukai is a workshop held once a year for the purpose of postgraduate education. Participants acquire practical knowledge about drug treatment by listening to lectures that cover about two topics per workshop.

Teikyo University Medicinal Botanical Garden

Located in Sagamihara, Kanagawa, the Teikyo University Medicinal Botanical Garden has been upgraded by reconstructing the greenhouse, making part of the garden's walking paths barrier-free, and improving the pond.

Facilities and Equipment Used by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

The faculty has a pharmacy practice room for conducting basic experiments, as well as a practice room for preliminary training for drug dispensing and drug administration guidance prior to practical training, allowing students to experience what it is like to be on the frontlines of medicine.

Pharmacists are active in the medical field as well as in pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic, and government industries. Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences In accordance with the Model Core Curriculum for Pharmaceutical Education (MCCE), the curriculum of the six-year pharmacy education system is designed to ensure the relevance and sequential nature of each specialized pharmaceutical subject, and to foster the acquisition of advanced specialized knowledge and skills as a specialist in medicine and the development of clinical practice skills. The Faculty is unique in that it provides humanistic communication education as a compulsory subject from the first to the fifth year, and educates medical professionals with the practice of patient-centered medicine in mind. In addition, the department takes advantage of the learning environment at Itabashi Campus, where School of Medicine, Faculty of Medical Technology, and School of Medicine affiliated hospitals are concentrated, to conduct practical cooperative education with School of Medicine affiliated hospitals, including participation in hospital conferences, and practical cooperative learning such as primary life-saving treatment and Team Medical Care exercises with School of Medicine and Faculty of Medical Technology in collaboration with the three medical departments, in order to acquire the mission and roles as pharmacists, and to develop a rich humanity at the same time. The program is also designed to cultivate a rich sense of humanity.
