Tokyo teacher recruitment selection test passed (elementary school)

Q1. What made you want to become a teacher?

A word from a friend was the trigger. The friend had a dream of being a teacher, but he couldn't aim for it. I heard my friend's passion for education and wanted to be a teacher for my friend. Also, with the support of the high school teacher I was consulting with, I wanted to become an elementary school teacher who can support children's dreams and push their backs.

Q2. Please tell us what you worked on to become a teacher after enrollment.

We actively worked on taking daily lectures and managing learning support for juniors. In the mock lessons held at the university, I made handmade teaching materials and practiced repeatedly until I was satisfied with my colleagues, while receiving various advice from the teacher. Also, in the management of learning support for juniors, I voluntarily thought about and acted on the plan. Through activities to convey learning to juniors, I was able to realize new challenges for myself and the importance of collaborating with colleagues.

Q3. How was it using the teaching profession center?

It's a place where you can try your best. He carefully taught me many things, including essays and interviews. I used the teaching profession center when I was worried about what to do. I remember being very relieved when I was asked to say, "I can't write well now," for the essay I wasn't particularly good at. I used to consult with him on a blank sheet of paper, but even at that time he gave me accurate advice and words of encouragement. I think it is thanks to the Education Center that I was able to pass the teacher employment exam. I appreciate it very much.

Q4. Please tell me the measures for the teacher employment exam.

I decided to do it every day because it doesn't matter what I do, and proceeded with the measures. I did my best to get one essay every day, which I was not particularly good at, and to pass all the themes by the teacher employment exam. Therefore, I spent most of my spring and summer vacations in the study room on campus with my colleagues, but I feel that I was able to grow very much by giving advice to each other. If you try too hard, you will get tired, so I think it is important to take a break with your friends.

Q5. Please tell us what you learned in the practical training.

I practiced teaching at an elementary school and a special needs school (junior high school), and I learned that the atmosphere of teachers and students is completely different depending on the characteristics of the school. Also, as I experienced a lot of lessons, I realized the importance of preparing for lessons. The more I prepared, the more I saw the children enjoying their activities. I also learned that watching over is very important in dealing with children. I don't give hints immediately, but I think that giving time to think and actually trying it will lead to great growth of the child. It was a short time of 4 weeks or 2 weeks, but the best result of the training was that I was able to realize the goodness of each child by playing and spending a lot with the children.

Q6. Please tell us the image of the teacher you are aiming for.

We aim to be a teacher who recognizes the goodness of each child and can develop them. Children spend most of their school life in class. I would like to make the class a fun place where children can feel at ease and play an active role. And I want to enjoy the joy and sadness together and grow myself.

Q7. Please give some advice to current students who are aiming to become teachers.

As you may often hear, the teacher recruitment exam is a team competition. For me, my colleagues are very encouraging and grow. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. That is why I think we can enhance each other. Let's imitate many good points of people and steal them. And you just have to make it your own. Find a companion who can work hard toward the same goal, and make great use of that companion and the teaching profession center. And let's enjoy college life. I support you.
