WHAT ARE 17GOALS OF SDGs?

The Healing Techniques of Jujutsu and Quality of Life: Hints for Achieving the SDGs The roots of judo lie in jujutsu, which encompasses both "killing techniques" and "healing techniques." Killing techniques developed into sports such as judo, while healing techniques became established as a technique of judo therapist. judo therapist guide the body toward a better state through healing techniques. They understand not only the structure of the body, such as bones and muscles, but also the structure of the entire body and the patient's lifestyle, and, when necessary, collaborate with doctors to develop treatment plans. There seem to be hints for thinking about the SDGs from this perspective on healing techniques.

01. judo therapist whose roots are in jujutsu, an ancient martial art.

Judo originates from the ancient martial art of jujutsu. Jujutsu includes "satsuho," which are techniques for killing or injuring an opponent, and "kappo," which are techniques for treating the injured. Satsuho developed into sports such as judo, while kappo was refined into judo therapy and medical treatment. Professor Satoru Kumakura is involved in education as Assistant Professor in Department of Judo Therapy, while also working as the director of a bone-setting clinic, directly interacting with patients.

02. How do I become judo therapist?

judo therapist are licensed professionals in Japan. They must receive education at a university or other training institution and pass a national examination. At university, they learn fundamental medical knowledge, including Surgery and Internal Medicine medicine. Furthermore, judo is a required subject to deepen their understanding of judo therapy by learning the movements involved in applying techniques and the body's skeletal structure.

03. Develop a treatment plan in collaboration with medical institutions.

At a bone-setting clinic staffed by judo therapist, treatments are provided to promote recovery from fractures, dislocations, bruises, sprains, and other injuries. Since Surgery interventions are not permitted, treatment plans are developed in collaboration with medical institutions, including seeking a doctor's diagnosis if necessary. Therefore, it is crucial for judo therapist to have a good understanding of Surgery and Internal Medicine procedures.

04. As a specialist who understands and improves the condition of the body

judo therapist focus not only on the affected area but on the entire skeletal structure, understanding how exercise, lifestyle, and daily habits affect the body and how these can be improved through treatment. They can be described as experts in techniques that help people live more vibrant lives by eliminating pain caused by injuries.

05. SDGs are a "method" for a better society and future.

While judo therapist guide patients towards a better body, patients tend to see improvements in both their physical condition and their lifestyle awareness when they understand the essence of the treatment method themselves. Similarly, if we consider the SDGs as a method for a better future, then improving society requires not just fixing one thing, but guiding the entire world towards sustainability. For this to happen, the understanding and awareness of each and every one of us is essential.
