WHAT ARE 17GOALS OF SDGs?
WHAT ARE 17GOALS OF SDGs?

"Supporting women" is the key to realizing a sustainable world. The proportion of women among researchers in Japan has been stagnant for many years. Teikyo University has established the "Support Center for Women Physicians and Researchers" to tackle the issue of how to create an environment where female researchers can continue to thrive.

The low percentage of female managers is also an issue at our university.

While the ratio of women among Assistant Professor and Senior Assistant Professor is 30-40%, it drops to the 10% range at Associate Professor and Professor levels. This is a huge loss for the future in the sense that it means the loss of research opportunities that could have contributed to society in the future.

Isn't there a "time" constraint as one of the causes?

To assist with research activities, Support Center for Women Physicians and Researchers has established a support system that focuses on "time," such as subsidies for using childcare facilities and babysitting subsidies.

Focus on education to raise awareness of work-life balance

In order for women to acquire management skills with an eye on research life and family life in the future, we have introduced a system that allows women to consult about work life studies and careers.

Work style reforms for women lead to the realization of diversity

Creating an environment in which female researchers can play an active role affects not only time but also the thinking of "gender role division between men and women." Women's work style reform is to consider the work-life balance of men and women, which leads to the promotion of diversity (diversity of work styles) and the realization of gender equality.
