The Faculty of Liberal Arts supports the acquisition of qualifications through various measures, such as elaborate guidance for passing the teacher employment examination, support for students aiming to become librarians and curators, and classes for preparing for the civil service examination.
A social researcher is a qualification certified by a public organization called the Social Research Association, which was established by the Japan Society of Educational Sociology, the Japan Society of Educational Sociology, and the Japan Society of Behavioral Metrics. It is a "research expert" who has the ability to grasp public opinion, market trends, social events, etc. by using it. At our university, we set up designated courses for students who want to become social researchers, and qualifications are given by earning credits and applying for those courses.
At our university, we not only earn credits but also provide various support for students who want to become curators. The Department of History organizes fieldwork twice a year and visits museums. At that time, a faculty member of art history will give a gallery talk, and students can learn the actual site such as the curator's knowledge.
Japanese teacher training course
The purpose of this course is to pave the way for employment in Japanese language education institutions in Japan and overseas, in companies doing overseas business, participation in international NGO activities and Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, and volunteer activities for Japanese language education in various region and school. This course is established in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and a certificate of completion is issued when students complete the prescribed credits.
Dream support program for teachers
For students aiming to pass the teacher employment examination, we kindly guide them on teaching profession, specialized education, essays, personal interviews, practical tests, etc., taking into account the tendency of questions of each municipality. Since the launch of "Dream Pro," the number of people who have passed the teacher employment examination has been steadily increasing.
The Career-related courses "Corporate / Civil Servant Basic Education" (1st year elective course) focuses on mathematical processing, judgment reasoning, and SPI non-language, and is a 1st year fall course for the purpose of developing basic skills as a foundation. After taking the course, we will guide students to the 2nd year elective course "Public servant education", aiming for a step-by-step learning effect. This course focus on the mathematical field (numerical processing, judgment reasoning, etc.). We will also prepare for the dissertation and interview test for a character test, and guide students to the "Public Service Examination Preparation Extracurricular Course" in the 3rd year, aiming for a step-by-step learning effect.
Nine popular qualification acquisition extracurricular courses such as English conversation, TOEIC®, MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist), and Nissho Bookkeeping are taken on campus, and more than 1,300 people take them annually. We support students who have acquired specific qualifications through the "qualification acquisition support system" that provides scholarships equivalent to the examination fee and the "career advancement scholarship system" that is limited to students on the Hachioji Campus. Through the acquisition of qualifications, we hope that students will find their strengths and accumulate successful experiences that will lead to a fulfilling student life.
