Research on a topic of your choice from a wide range of sports-related fields
In the seminar, which is compulsory for the 3rd year, students choose from various sports-related fields such as practical teaching methods for sports, training methods for improving health, sports management, nutrition management for athletes, and athletic training. Students choose the theme they want to study and learn more deeply.
Specialized field Clinical exercise physiology, healthcare
Main Research Topics How to create safe and effective individualized exercise programs for patients with chronic diseases (e.g., type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer)
Seminar Introduction In addition to the above research themes, we are also working on an international project (EIM on Campus) to increase the number of people walking in local communities and on campuses, and clarifying the relationship between walking (walking) and subjective happiness (well-being). This seminar is suitable for people who are aiming to become health and exercise instructors or who are interested in working in the community (civil service).
Main Research Topics Guidance and evaluation of sports and exercise for improving athletic performance and maintaining health, and the mechanisms of physical changes
Seminar Introduction In the third year, students read domestic and international literature related to sports and exercise and conduct group research. In the fourth year, students explore topics that interest them, compile the content into documents, and give presentations. In addition to these, students will improve their practical skills through physical fitness tests and healthy exercise instruction at external facilities.
Specialized field Physical education principle, basketball
Main research contents Sports philosophy, sports ethics, basketball coaching, referees, technical theory
Seminar introduction Students learn about "teamwork" and "fair play" in sports. Modern sports have a strong victorious aspect, and there are cases where problems arise regarding the relationship with the rules of the game and the relationships with the people around them. The purpose of these studies is to utilize them in activities within companies, organizations, and circles in daily life. Also, since I am teaching the basketball club of our university, I am thinking of giving advice to students who are interested in the teaching method, technical theory, refereeing method, etc. of this sport.
Main research contents Thinking about the mechanism of health promotion and sports performance improvement from the molecular level
Seminar Introduction Since humans are a collection of cells, when any change occurs in the body, it begins at the cellular level. In order to understand the changes in the body that occur due to exercise, nutritional intake, aging, etc., we believe it is important to understand from the molecular level to the individual level without placing limitations on what we learn. For this reason, this seminar aims to improve the ability to grasp both the micro and macro at the same time. In addition, we aim to improve problem-solving skills through practical training in which students actually measure and analyze things that they find mysterious on a daily basis.
Specialization Humanities and social sciences focusing on sports
Main research contents
Early career development of student athletes
Community development through sports (community management)
Football Club Management
Seminar Introduction Based on the concept of "Sports Design Laboratory ~Increasing Happiness through Sport Design~," we conduct various research activities that are tailored to the interests of the seminar students themselves. People's happiness can be enhanced in both quantity and quality by designing desirable forms of society and sports. Therefore, we approach research in two stages: (1) Understanding the relationship between "society and sports" and the mechanisms by which it is formed!, and (2) Designing a "system that makes people and society happy" through sports! In practice, third-year students will read and analyze the above content and related domestic and international literature, and conduct group research and present their findings. Fourth-year students will create research outputs equivalent to a graduation thesis (1. Formulating a research plan, 2. Conducting research, 3. Analysis, 4. Writing) and give presentations. Furthermore, starting in 2026, we began managing a 7-a-side football (Socceiti) club as a practical exercise in sports management.
Specialized field Athletic training, rehabilitation
Main research contents Elucidation of the causes of injuries in sports and examination of injury prevention methods
Seminar Introduction This course deepens the knowledge of injuries necessary for athletic trainers and teaches how to identify the physical causes of injuries. It also teaches how to measure physical fitness and acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to prescribe rehabilitation and training methods suited to the competitive characteristics of each sport, and also holds exercise classes for middle-aged and elderly people and provides training instruction. The knowledge and skills acquired will be useful in their work as student trainers, and for students who will be active as athletes, the aim is to help them understand their own bodies through self-measurements and to be able to plan their own training menus.
Specialized field Outdoor Education, Recreation Studies
Main research contents Recreation and teaching methods for learning snow sports skills
Laboratory Introduction While the main focus of the on-campus course will be literature research and recreational sports research, there will also be off-campus study (at ski resorts and campsites) during summer, winter, and spring vacations. We are looking for students who can actively participate in off-campus study. Due to the nature of the course content, we will also cover content related to obtaining recreation instructor and camp instructor qualifications. In winter, we aim to improve skiing and snowboarding skills. We are looking for students who are willing to take on the challenge.
Analysis of various movements using biarticular muscles, product development, and educational research and development
Research on reproduction, sexual differentiation, and comparative anatomy
Research related to sports in general
Seminar Introduction Basic science fields such as anatomy are often considered to be dull. However, it is said that choosing basic science such as anatomy in a seminar will give you the ability to scientifically respond to a wide range of fields. The theme of this seminar is mainly motion analysis focusing on anatomical visualization of the function and load of biarticular muscles, and product development and education research using them. It can also handle research on reproduction, sexual differentiation, and comparative anatomy. However, I think that the most important thing is to investigate the background and discover problems for the given theme or theme that interests you, even during the applied exercise period. Furthermore, I think that the aim is to satisfy intellectual curiosity by implementing efficient means with one's own power in a given environment and verifying and considering the results, and to contribute to society and move the world forward. Let's do our best together.
Main research contents Research on dance lesson teaching methods and aerobic dance teaching techniques
Seminar Introduction The goal of this seminar is to explore dance from various angles and find a graduation research topic that interests you. For example, even experienced dancers may find it difficult to answer questions such as "How did classical ballet come about?" and "What are the roots of the running man?". Students will classify the diverse dance genres from literature and previous research, acquire basic knowledge such as history and characteristics, and actively express their opinions through group work and discussions. Students will also dance with their peers through practical training and exercises, and students who aim to become instructors will improve their teaching skills by conducting mock lessons. We aim to create a seminar where experienced dancers can learn more deeply and beginners can experience the fun of dance.

Seminar introduction We aim to acquire the ability to think about sports from various perspective. Currently, sports have a large number of staff to support athletes, and various abilities are required among them. There are many areas that support sports, such as sports conditioning, athletic rehabilitation and first aid. Through this seminar, we aim that everyone who will carry the sport of the future will gain knowledge and experience. We also have high expectations for student independence, such as conducting a thorough survey of the sport in which they are interested, understanding the current situation, and thinking about how to develop it.
Specialized field Athletic training, educational technology
Main Research Topics Research into improving competitive ability, creating a safe competitive environment, and building a better learning environment
Seminar Introduction I believe that the role of seminars is to deepen knowledge using specialized fields as material, but to study and master a certain field in a specialized way, one must first acquire the ability to think. And I believe that being able to think well begins with having an interest in many things. For that reason, in my seminar, we aim to broaden the breadth and depth of interests and develop your ability to think by reading, writing, summarizing, and discussing various things related to sports and things that interest you. The ability to think should be a lifelong treasure. We are looking forward to students who want to know the fun of learning, not just those who aim to become athletic trainers.
Main Research Topics Elucidating the effects of exercise, physical activity, and food intake on physical and mental health through life and health science
Seminar Introduction In this seminar, each student will explore a topic of interest, such as health, exercise, sports, or nutrition. They will deepen their understanding through literature research, delve into their questions, conduct experiments and surveys based on hypotheses, and analyze and evaluate the results. They will hone their communication and problem-solving skills through group research and discussions. They will also value an independent spirit of inquiry and develop the ability to tackle problems from multiple perspectives.
Main research contents Predictive judgment in sports scenes: what do players see and feel?
Laboratory introduction Focusing on the behavior prediction of the confrontation type competition scene, we clarify the prediction clues used by the first-class athletes (experts). This research can be expected to contribute to coaching and top performance research. For example, in a tennis coaching scene, if you can show the relationship between the opponent's movement and prediction, you can catch up with the ball as quickly as one second or one step, and you will be able to gain an advantage in the game. In order for Japanese athletes who are physically disadvantaged to take the lead in the world of sports, it is essential to gain an advantage in cognitive skills such as predictive judgment.
Specialized field Martial arts, measurement evaluation

In this seminar, we plan and run health education programs and sports events for preschool and elementary school children, teaching them about the workings of the body and the joy of sports. We also engage in community-based activities, such as supporting junior high school sports days and local events, and participating in community watch activities while running or walking. This is a hands-on seminar filled with smiles, where we help children experience the joy of "I did it!" and "This is fun!" while also growing ourselves.
Specialized field Sports management, sports marketing
Main research contents Research on spectator behavior of sports spectators
Laboratory Introduction This seminar is conducting research on sports spectators. Just as there are many reasons for playing sports, such as "because I love sports," "for health," and "to interact with friends and acquaintances," there are also many reasons for watching sports. We work every day to clarify the diverse motivations for watching and the behavior of spectators. This seminar is also conducting research in collaboration with the J.League. Students participate in surveys conducted by each J.League club. The survey results are published as a summary report of the J.League Spectator Survey. In addition to the J.League, we also conduct research on Japan national soccer team and rugby team matches.
Creating opportunities for children to exercise and fostering Community Engagement
