This department value local fieldwork. Due to the problem of the covid-19 infection, it was difficult for students to discuss each other, but when the online class started, they wanted to support the regions where tourism promotion stopped. Looking ahead to the activities in pandemic, they came to the conclusion that that activities using SNS would minimize contact each other and allow them disseminate and analyze tourist information, they started to working cooperating with local governments. 

Overview

At the Goso Seminar, Department of Regional Economics Faculty of Economics has launched a tourist destination support project in covid-19 pandemic.
In this project, the purpose is to suggest effective ways of disseminating tourist information in post-covid19 by utilizing an analysis tool called Instagram Insight to analyze the time zones when posts and access are popular among young people, in addition to disseminating tourist information.

Activity introduction

The second year students who belong to the seminar are targeting at Nasushiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture, and the third year students are targeting Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture selected for the Tochigi Prefecture University Community Partnership Project, they have been disseminating tourist information creating Instagram and digital pamphlets since October 2020.
Due to the problem of new coronavirus infection, the survey is conducted in small groups of about 3 people, with separate survey dates, and discussions are conducted online, taking infection prevention measures such as wearing masks and sterilizing regularly. The tourist information posted on Instagram includes information on infection prevention measures for facilities and 3 Cs. We are working daily support not only tourist information but also restaurants and souvenir shops where economic damages are great.

The annual joint seminar presentation in this department was held online this year, and the students of this project also summarized the results as follows. Based on the results of the youth tourism needs survey, they pointed out the issues of information dissemination in each region and summarized proposals for tourism promotion using SNS. Create "Tabearuki Ashitabi" to enjoy Ashikaga with eating

We have created a pamphlet "Tabearuki Ashitabi" to enjoy eating while walking around the town. Not only paper pamphlets are placed in various places in Ashikaga City, but also digital pamphlets are also available.
