Methods of Education and Research guidance

Division of Informatics Science Course

The learning method of the course subjects is done in the class by text or media. Face-to-face classes (schooling) are conducted according to the needs of both students and faculty.
Textbook classes cultivate highly specialized basic knowledge through self-study using designated textbooks and guidance and discussions with instructors via e-mail. You will submit a report during the middle and completion of the study course, and receive corrections, grading, and comments from the instructor in charge.
After passing the report, if you pass the subject acquisition test, you will earn credits.
In the media class, students progress through e-learning (LMS) using the Internet from their home computer, and receive correction guidance while doing exercises and quizzes for each content. Finally, if you pass the subject acquisition test, you will earn credits.
Subject acquisition exams are held on Saturdays and Sundays in September and February. Since the timetable is decided in advance, each student makes a study plan for which subject and when to take the exam.

Special excersize

In order to cultivate dissertation research skills and problem-solving skills that are commonly required for master's research, students read designated academic papers and specialized books under the guidance of their academic advisors.
Through this exercise, students will learn the latest technologies and concepts in the research field, explore problems, and acquire the basic knowledge and research methods necessary to carry out their master's research.
Learning progresses through guidance and advice from teachers, reports on progress and problems on the part of students, submission of reports, communication (email/LMS), and face-to-face (schooling) discussions as necessary.

Educational research

Students will write a special research (master's thesis) under the same supervisor as the special seminar.
From among multiple themes presented as special research (master's research) or themes proposed by the student, students will focus on one research theme through discussion with their academic advisor and carry out research.
During the research process, an interim report meeting will be held to ascertain the validity and progress of the research theme. Finally, the research results are summarized and submitted as a master's thesis, and a master's thesis presentation is held to review and evaluate the master's thesis. Before submitting a master's thesis, you must obtain permission from your academic advisor.

Completion Requirements

The standard term of study is two years. Students must have been enrolled for at least 2 years (maximum enrollment period is 4 years), acquired at least 30 credits (including special seminars and special research) required for completion, and have completed the master's thesis review and final examination. Must pass the review and final exam. Those who complete the course will be awarded a master's degree (engineering).
If you use the long-term course system, the term of study is 3 or 4 years (the maximum term of enrollment is 4 years).
