Foster nursing professionals with high vocational awareness as a nurse and broad perspective

In addition to small-group lectures that provide detailed guidance, students independently learn through various learning forms such as group work, exercises, inspections, and practical training, and foster a high level of vocational awareness as a nurse. In addition, they actively study areas that are currently attracting attention in the field of nursing, and acquire a broad perspective and expertise to meet the new demands of the times.

Life Design Exercise I
All 1st graders learn how to study at university (literature search and report writing, etc.), which is indispensable for a meaningful university life. In addition, they acquire the thoughts and attitudes that form the basis of ethical judgment, and acquire the foundation for learning the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to nurses. Since this is tailored to individual needs, students can acquire the necessary skills at their own pace and take on the challenge of more advanced learning.

カリキュラム

In the 1st grade, students advance basic learning that is the basis of nursing from other departments while taking courses in basic fields with other department students. From the 2nd grade, they start studying specialized subjects, and from the 3rd grade, they pursue deeper specialized fields and work on clinical training in earnest to improve the practical ability of nursing. In the 4th grade, while continuing the practical training, they integrate the nursing practice that we have learned so far and study based on the career plan.

Class Introduction

Education field

Medical Communication Theory I ・ II
Professional communication skills are required when nurses provide care to patients and their families. Students learn the basic knowledge and skills of communication based on academic and cultural backgrounds, and deepen their thoughts through their own experiences and cases. Through group work, we aim to express ourselves and find challenges in our own communication. Next, we use assertions and reflections to understand the characteristics of various communications in the field of nursing. Through communication, students know themselves and others and acquire the skills to build better relationships.

Specialized Fields

Daily life assistance technology
People casually carry out their daily lives such as eating, excreting, sleeping, and bathing. However, people who needs nursing have health problems and are living with problems in their daily lives. In this lecture, students consider and practice what is daily life, what are the obstacles to daily life, and what kind of assistance is needed while valuing the will of those who cannot do daily life on their own and the dignity of individuals, and acquire the ability. Nursing is a science of practice. Students understand the scientific basis in the lecture and learn it through exercises with model dolls and classmates. It is also an exercise to think in the role of a patient, thinking from the patient's point of view, which is important for learning skills as a nurse. They think about the patient's thoughts and acquire the basic knowledge and ability to help them lead their daily lives.

Basic nursing practice
We motivate students to learn nursing by observing and experiencing the actual nursing activities at an early stage where medical care and nursing are provided. This training is conducted in the first half of the 1st grade and consists of on-campus orientation, hospital training, and on-campus summarization. At the hospital, clinical lectures, outline explanations and inspection of hospital facilities, equipment and each department are given. And students learn what the hospital like is to provide with medical care and nursing, and what types of professions are involved in medical and nursing. Students act with nurses, observe and experience the flow of the day in the ward and nursing for patients, and learn the grounds and meanings. On the final day of the training, they summarize and present each lesson in the group. Through interacting with hospitalized patients and observing nursing, they experience the difficulty and joy of nursing. Nurses learn a lot about the importance of knowledge, skills, and attitudes, consideration for patients, and responsibility for behavior, which leads to further learning motivation for nursing.

Midwife course

Practical Midwifery III
In order to respond to the ultra-low birthrate and aging society in the future, we select midwife courses in the second half of the 2nd grade. In this class, in order to acquire advanced and wide-ranging knowledge and skills regarding midwifery, students learn basic techniques for ultrasound manipulation, delivery assistance, and suturing of mild perineal lacerations based on midwifery diagnosis, which is the main part of midwifery. In addition, in the "normal delivery assistance method", students learn how to support abundant childbirth by practicing assistance in various delivery positions. In addition, they surely acquire basic knowledge and skills, such as acquiring a qualification for neonatal asphyxia resuscitation.

Public health teacher course

Health crisis management theory
Health care centers are professional, technical and wide-area centers for community health and play a central role in community health crisis management. Municipal public health nurses are also active in the event of a large-scale disaster such as themselves or floods. At our university, we conduct a selection test for the public health nurse course in the second half of the 2nd grade. In the theory of health crisis management, students learn about "work related to prevention, spread prevention, treatment, etc. of health damage performed in response to situations that threaten the lives and safety of the people" in a classroom lecture, and deepen their larning based on what actually happened in the practical training at each training health center and municipality.

On-site training

As the aging society progresses and medical skills are required more and more, the Department of Nursing focuses on practical training courses from the 1st grade in order to train nurses who acquired advanced nursing skills and communication skills with staff of other occupations.

Practical training / Seminars schedule

Practical training / Seminars schedule

In the 1st and 2nd grade training, students see the actual activities of the nursing staff and experience the relationship with patients. From the second half of the 3rd grade, practical training is conducted at medical institutions and community health facilities, and students actually take charge of patients and acquire the ability to be ready for action in the field of Team Medical Care. In the first half of the 4th grade, integrated training is conducted as a summary of the training to raise awareness as a nurse.

On-site training

On-site training

In the Department of Nursing, we have been practicing from the 1st year in order to deepen our knowledge by experiencing the actual medical field from an early stage, think about the current medical care and the environment surrounding it, and develop medical personnel who can respond. In the 1st year and 2nd year training, while seeing the actual activities of the nursing profession and experiencing the relationship with the target person of nursing, the knowledge and skills of nursing practice learned in the lecture will be integrated as a nursing profession. You will acquire the necessary basic abilities.
In the 3rd year, practical training is organized at actual medical institutions and community health facilities. We will actually take charge of the patient and learn and develop the practical process of nursing according to the patient. In addition, by engaging with not only patients but also staff of other occupations, we will improve communication skills and acquire the ability to be ready for action in the field of Team Medical Care. After that, integrated training will be held in the 4th year as a summary of the training. We will raise awareness as a nurse based on the practical training in the specialized field that we have conducted so far.

Grading Criteria

About our GPA System

We have introduced a GPA system as a grade evaluation system. By evaluating the learning outcomes with an objective numerical value called GPA, we clarify the grade evaluation, and it would be useful for the learning guidance of students. In addition, this system generally conforms to the grade evaluation system generally adopted by universities in Europe and the United States.
