Faculty of Law, Pakui Seminar Visits Nohmi Disaster Prevention "meeet"Hachioji Campus

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, three students from Akira Pakui's seminar in the Department of Political Science Faculty of Law Teikyo University, visited the Nohmi Disaster Prevention Communication Space "meeet" to discuss exhibition plans for their seminar exhibition "The Present and Future of Disaster Preparedness Food (tentative title)," to be held at the university's general museum in the next academic year, 2026.
The students experienced cutting-edge exhibits covering all types of disasters, including wind and flood damage and earthquakes, and learned a lot from the actual exhibits, which showed how the disaster situation changes over time and even allowed them to see how stockpiled supplies feel. They also experienced a realistic fire and earthquake/tsunami experience in VR, which exposed them to the disaster prevention education philosophy of "meeet" - experience, learning, and spreading knowledge. This not only provided them with hints that directly relate to the planning of their seminar exhibition, but also served as an important opportunity for them to see disaster prevention and mitigation as something that concerns them personally.

Pakui's seminar places importance on students taking the initiative and has adopted a system of assigning each student to carry out activities. The seminar exhibition is being prepared primarily by students in the "value creation" position, who enhance the significance of the seminar's research and activities, and is a project that symbolizes the efforts of the entire seminar. Kohei Ikeda (3rd year, Faculty of Law), leader of the value creation position, said, "By experiencing the changing situation during a disaster through meeet, we were able to clearly see the direction of the seminar exhibition, which shows the role of food stockpiles over time. Next year's seminar exhibition will be our first attempt, created with the combined efforts of new and current seminar students and graduating seniors. We will tackle the project with the determination to ensure it is a success."

The seminar exhibition will be held from Tuesday, December 1st to Monday, December 14th, 2026, and will be open to the public. During the exhibition period, lectures and food tasting events are also planned, and all seminar students are working together to prepare to communicate their research results. The Pakui seminar will reflect the knowledge gained this time in the exhibition planning, aiming to create a seminar exhibition that clearly shows the current state and future of disaster food stockpiles, and will further deepen Community Engagement as a "seminar where students learn at the local government site."
