Distinguished Recognition for Teikyo University Professor at Medical Mycology Conference

In a notable achievement, Professor Rui Kano from Teikyo University Institute of Medical Mycology was honored with the esteemed Japanese Society of Medical Mycology Award during the 67th General Meeting and Academic Conference held at Kawagoe Prince Hotel, Saitama Prefecture on October 6th and 7th, 2023.
Since 1996, Professor Kano has been at the forefront of research on animal mycosis, garnering international acclaim for groundbreaking contributions published in esteemed overseas academic journals and presented at Japanese Society of Medical Mycology conferences. Notably, in 2006, while serving as a Nihon University overseas researcher, Kano conducted pivotal research on "genotyping of drug-resistant fungi" at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, contributing significantly to international epidemiological research.

The award, a testament to Kano's unwavering dedication to the field, acknowledges his exceptional participation in the Society and his pivotal role in various committees. Furthermore, it applauds his outstanding achievements in "research on animal-derived mycoses - particularly molecular biological analysis." With global health authorities like the World Health Organization (WHO) and CDC sounding alarms on the potential emergence of infectious diseases stemming from zoonotic mycoses, Professor Kano's ongoing research promises to play a pivotal role in safeguarding public health on a global scale.
