Hachioji CampusLecture by International Peace Cooperation Researcher, Cabinet Office International Peace Cooperation Headquarters (PKO Secretariat)

On July 20, 2022 (Wednesday), Mr. Morio Fukunaga, an international peace cooperation researcher at the Cabinet Office International Peace Cooperation Headquarters Secretariat (PKO Secretariat), was invited as an outside Senior Assistant Professor at Teikyo University Hachioji Campus to give a lecture. The we. This lecture will be held as part of "Citizen Participation and Volunteer Theory I/Social Participation and Volunteer I" taught by Associate Professor Lee Yong Sook, Department of Sociology, Faculty of Liberal Arts. In this course, we have been learning about various volunteer activities in modern society since the first class, and this time, the 14th class, a lecture titled "International Society and Volunteerism" was given.

Mr. Fukunaga spent his childhood at an international school in Malaysia and spent his college days in Canada. He spoke about the roles played by the PKO Secretariat and various United Nations agencies that coordinate various aids for this purpose. Mr. Fukunaga said, ``Because there are cases in which even international issues are directly related to one's own life, when an international issue arises, it should be treated as a personal issue, not in a distant country.'' A lively question-and-answer session was held with a focus on contemporary disputes.
