Information on Extracurricular Courses

Support system for acquiring various qualifications of the Faculty of Law 

The knowledge and experience acquired in the Faculty of Law, such as basic legal knowledge, legal expertise in each field, logical thinking ability and accurate judgment, can be utilized in various fields of society. The Faculty of Law has a support system for acquiring various qualifications such as residential land and building trader, judicial scrivener, intellectual property management, tax accountant, notary public accountant, and civil servant.

"Real Estate Law" useful for acquiring qualifications for real estate notary and judicial scriveners

Focusing on real estate transactions, for which an understanding of the Civil Code is indispensable, we will proceed with classes by using actual examples so that basic understanding can be enhanced. In addition, based on the Six Codes, practical learning will be conducted so that the practical operation of laws such as the substantive law and the real estate registration law can be understood. The goal is to be useful for various qualification tests surrounding real estate, such as real estate notary and judicial scriveners.

"Intellectual Property Law" indispensable for intellectual property management skill test and patent attorney examination

There is an even greater need for human resources who have a deep understanding of the legal issues surrounding the use and management of intellectual property rights. In the "Intellectual Property Law", you will learn about the nature and protection of industrial property rights such as patent rights, practical proposals, designs, and trademarks, the Unfair Competition Prevention Law, copyrights, etc. Understand the problems, the role of intellectual property, and the significance of its rights.

"Basic liberal arts exercises" to acquire basic skills at the level of passing the beginner's level of legal examination

In basic liberal arts exercises, students learn basic abilities such as sentence expression, reading, summarization, and how to take notes. In addition to these skills, students also learning the basic liberal arts of social science necessary for professionally studying law and the academic ability necessary for university students studying law such as presentations, logical thinking. Also, students acquire the basic ability of the level of passing the beginner's law examination.

"Accountant course"to support tax accountant exam and certified accountant exam takers

Aimed at mentoring students aiming to become certified public accountants or tax accountants, we hold special lectures in small groups on financial statement theory, bookkeeping theory, etc. The target audience is students from Faculty of Education, who will thoroughly study bookkeeping theory, financial statement theory, etc.

Civil servant examination measures

Faculty of Law boasts a stable track record of graduating with a high number of graduates employed as civil servants every year, with 77 graduates employed in 2021, 80 in 2022, and 81 in 2023, all of whom were employed as civil servants in administrative or public security positions.

Civil Service Exam

About the curriculum

Through classes taught by teachers with former civil servant backgrounds and fieldwork, students can gain a concrete image of their career while deepening their understanding of job types and tasks. In the "Civil Servant General Education" course, which aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the civil service exam, students learn the basic knowledge required to pass the general intelligence section of the general education exam, and also practice essay writing and interview exams using questions similar to those in the actual exam. In the "Special Seminar: Civil Servant General Education" course, students are challenged with general intelligence questions from the civil service exam, aiming to improve basic numerical processing skills, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, and to master general problem-solving patterns.

Civil Service Course

We offer special courses for civil service exam preparation. This course is affiliated with Ohara Qualifications, allowing students to receive high-quality instruction from Senior Assistant Professor with specialized knowledge and experience at a lower price than regular tuition. Because the course is held on campus, there is no need to commute, and a major benefit is being able to study efficiently. Students can learn in detail about exam trends and preparation methods, and we also offer mock exams and individual instruction. Senior Assistant Professor are well-versed in civil service exams and provide instruction tailored to each student. We also offer comprehensive preparation for essays and interviews, covering all aspects of the civil service exam.

Civil servant internship

Every year, approximately 50 students from Faculty of Law participate in internships at local government offices such as city halls. Through these internships, students can gain experience working in an actual workplace and acquire the skills necessary for practical work. In addition, by interacting with staff at their internship sites, students can learn about the working style and workplace atmosphere of a civil servant, and gain a concrete idea of their future careers.

Civil Service Examination Events

We also hold a number of support events related to civil service exams. The "Introductory Guidance for Civil Service" held in May provides detailed information on the types of civil service positions, job duties, examination system, exam schedule, and exam content, and also introduces the support for civil service provided by Career Support Center. At the "Corporate and Civil Service Alumni Roundtable Discussion" held in October, alumni from private companies and civil service employees visit the school to answer a wide range of questions about job hunting, selection exam preparation, and current work. In November and December, we hold "Civil Service and Independent Administrative Agencies Job Seminars," where we hold joint information sessions inviting civil service organizations and independent administrative agencies, and also promote the appeal of independent administrative agencies, which are similar to civil servants.

Qualification acquisition support

Extracurricular courses for obtaining qualifications in fields such as information/computers, languages, accounting/taxation, and business are available on campus, with over 600 students taking these courses annually. Students who obtain certain qualifications are supported through a qualification acquisition support system that provides scholarships equivalent to examination fees, as well as a career advancement scholarship system exclusive to students at Hachioji Campus. We hope that by obtaining qualifications, students will discover their strengths and accumulate successful experiences that will lead to a fulfilling student life.
