On Thursday, September 25, Friday, September 26, and Monday, September 29, 2025, Mr. Antonio de los Reyes President and Mr. Ramiro Velazquez, Vice President of the Aguascalientes Campus of Panamericana University (Mexico), Teikyo University's partner university, visited our Hachioji, Utsunomiya and Itabashi campuses.
On Thursday, September 25, at Hachioji Campus, they participated in the Spanish Course class taught by Associate Professor Yuichi Sendai of the Faculty of Languages and Cultures. During the class, students exchanged opinions with him. In addition to reintroducing the exchange program, Mr. de los Reyes President said, "I hope many students will experience learning in Mexico. The students then toured the campus facilities. Vice President Velazquez reflected on the history of cooperation between the two universities, saying, "It has been 10 years since the cooperation between Panamericana University and Teikyo University began, and it is very moving to be here again. They also met with Faculty of Languages and Cultures Dean Yoshimi Hirata at the Center for Japanese Language Education and exchanged views on future exchanges.
On September 26 (Friday), the delegation visited the Utsunomiya Campus and met with Dean Masayuki Arai of the Faculty of Science and Engineering and other faculty members. On the final day, September 29 (Monday), they visited the Itabashi Campus and met with Chairman and President Yoshihito Okinaga; Professor Yoshinori Nakata, Professor Mariko Inoue, and Assistant Professor Takuya Yamada of the Graduate School of Public Health; and Professor Kei Asayama of the Department of Hygiene and Public Health, Faculty of Medicine.
President Okinaga had previously visited Panamericana University’s Aguascalientes Campus in 2015. During this meeting, Rector de los Reyes extended an invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony of Panamericana University’s new hospital in Mexico City, scheduled to open in 2027. President Okinaga expressed his gratitude, saying, “I was deeply impressed during my previous visit to the Aguascalientes Campus, and I look forward to visiting again.”
The relationship between the two universities began with a double-degree program for Mexican graduate students in science and engineering. Although the program was temporarily suspended after 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to resuming and strengthening it through this visit. This occasion also served to review the history of their cooperation and exchange ideas for future development.
Teikyo University and Panamericana University aim to further deepen their long-term and strategic partnership by creating new opportunities for collaboration in research, education, and human exchange.
