On Thursday, November 7, 2024, we held a workshop on traditional Japanese dance at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus, inviting Senior Assistant Professor including Fujima Toyotake, a master of the Fujima Kan'emon school.
Approximately 30 international students and Japanese students attending Hachioji Campus participated in this workshop, providing a valuable opportunity to experience traditional Japanese culture through a three-part program: "1. Learn about Japanese dance," "2. Try on a yukata," and "3. Experience Japanese dance."
Students who participated commented, "The expressions on their faces while they were performing really captured the performers' aura, and it was incredibly beautiful to watch from up close," and "We were able to see such beautiful dance, and once again felt the traditional beauty of Japan. The sound reached deep into our hearts." Some of the students were wearing yukata for the first time, and seemed unfamiliar with it, but it was very impressive to see them working hard, receiving instruction from Senior Assistant Professor with serious expressions on their faces.
Our university will continue to actively carry out such activities in order to realize Educational Guidelines of "International perspectives."
