Hachioji CampusCommunity Health Workshop at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus Draws Enthusiastic Response

In March 2023, Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus hosted the Teikyo University-Hachioji City Health Promotion Workshop for Hachioji residents on the 9th, 16th, and 23rd. Spearheaded by faculty members from the Faculty of Medical Technology's Department of Sport and Medical Science, this collaborative initiative with Hachioji City has been promoting health maintenance, improvement, and care prevention among local residents since the academic year 2015.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's workshop marked the first in-person gathering in approximately three years, with a total of 21 participants. Activities included physical assessments, health lectures, and health-oriented exercises. Participants expressed positive feedback, with statements such as, "Attending the workshop changed my perspective on incorporating exercise into my daily life" and "I greatly appreciated the support from faculty members engaged in health research." Many expressed a desire to continue participating in future sessions. Notably, the workshop also featured student involvement as assistants, providing a practical learning experience for those aspiring to become athletic trainers, health exercise instructors, and practitioners in the field of health exercise. This aligns seamlessly with the university's educational philosophy, emphasizing hands-on learning.
