Lecture by Head of Center, Joint Staff School, Ministry of Defense

On November 16, 2022 (Wednesday), at the Hachioji Campus of Teikyo University, Head of Center the Joint Staff School of the Ministry of Defense participated in the class "International Cooperation II" taught by Jun Nishioka, Professor of the Department of Department of Global Japanese Studies, Faculty of Language Studies, Teikyo University. We invited Colonel Koichi of the Ground Self-Defense Forces to give a lecture on international activities such as UN PKO activities by the Japanese Self-Defense Forces.

Professor Nishioka is in charge of International Cooperation Theory II, which discusses how the international community is addressing the various issues facing the international community today, and how civil society plays an active role in international cooperation, not just the government. The purpose of this course is to learn about the roles of companies, etc. from a broad perspective. The students who listened to the lecture were strongly impressed by Isao Takekuma's talk, which included his experience in the United Nations peacekeeping operation (ANDOF) in the Golan Heights, which is located on the border between Israel and Syria, and relief activities in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake. It was like I received it. It was a very fresh and useful class for students who usually have few opportunities to hear directly from uniformed SDF personnel. "I would like to follow the activities of the Self-Defense Forces with even greater interest in the future."
