Hachioji CampusNagai Seminar exchanged opinions with Asahi Group Japan Co., Ltd.

On November 24, 2022 (Thursday), the seminar of Lisa Nagai, a Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics Economics, Teikyo University, exchanged opinions with Asahi Group Japan Co., Ltd. At the Hachioji Campus cafeteria, Nagai's seminar provided a TFT menu with an additional 20 yen for school lunches for children in developing countries. We are engaged in activities that contribute to the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), such as selling pancakes using ”, and Asahi Group, which owns Asahi Yuus Co., Ltd., which is developing the “Mogu Cup”. Opinion exchange meeting with Japan Co., Ltd. was realized.

On the day of the event, we invited Mr. Takuya Harada and Mr. Atsushi Miyano from the Corporate Communication Strategy Department of Asahi Group Japan Co., Ltd. First, they explained the company's initiatives. On January 1, 2022, we established Asahi Yuus Co., Ltd., which sells products and provides services that contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. In addition to introducing the cup "Mogu Cup", a wide range of initiatives such as providing products that contribute to people's health and health support activities were introduced. Nagai's seminar students then explained TFT activities, and shared how they approached menu development and publicity activities, and that they have sold nearly 2,000 servings so far. Students who actually sold pancakes using the Mogu Cup at the Seishasai said, "It's hard to eat as it is," and "I'm reluctant to touch the cup with my bare hands. There is a special sleeve for the Mogu Cup." I think you can eat it with peace of mind.” In response to the student's opinion, Mr. Harada and Mr. Miyano said, ``There is a dilemma in that attaching a sleeve creates paper waste and deviates from the concept of the Mogu Cup, which does not generate waste. His opinion is very valuable. I want to take it home and use it in the future. Nagai's seminar also proposed industry-academia collaboration with the company as a way to spread TFT activities. A wide range of proposals were made, ranging from proposals that utilize Asahi Soft Drinks to proposals that involve the areas where factories are located, and both sides exchanged opinions on where to start. One of the students who participated said, "It was a very valuable opportunity. I would be happy if today's exchange of opinions could lead to the spread of TFT's activities not only on the Hachioji Campus but also on other campuses and around Hachioji." . Teikyo University will continue to support students' SDGs activities.
