In 1989, "Activin," a type of protein discovered by Deputy Director Asajima, who surprised biologists around the world, was called "a dream substance that cannot be found even if you look for it." Over the course of 18 years, Deputy Director Asajima discovered that activin is an inducer that induces cell differentiation. This elucidates the mechanism by which the muscles and organs of living organisms are created from a single cell. After that, he succeeded in creating more than 20 organs and organs with activin, and laid the foundation for the current regenerative medicine. Currently, I am working as a deputy director of the Teikyo University Advanced Comprehensive Research Organization, which was established in April 2021.
