Educational Purposes

This department teach advanced wide range of knowledge and skills regarding midwifery in accordance with School Philosophy, and cultivates the ability to assist those who exercise human sexual and reproductive health and rights. In addition, this course aim to develop human resources who recognize the social mission as midwives and can contribute to the development of community-based maternal and child health care.

Three policies of the Graduate Course of Midwifery

The Graduate Course of Midwifery aim to train midwife who can self-improvement throughout their lives and who are aware of the social mission. Furthermore, we train those who can provide midwifery skills based on high diagnostic ability and evidence towards the people exercising women's lifelong health, sexual and reproductive rights. A certificate of completion will be awarded to those who have acquired the following abilities and have completed the prescribed credits.

  1. Those who can diagnose and support maternal and child and family health issues in the maternity cycle.
  2. Those who can satisfied and safe delivery assistance independently that respects the needs.
  3. Those who can diagnose and support reproductive health at each stage of a woman's life cycle.
  4. Those who can contribute the needs of society and recognize responsibilities and obligations as a midwife.
  5. Those who can contribute to the local community by coordinating with health, medical care, welfare, and government.
  6. Those who have intellectual curiosity and can self-improvement throughout life.

In order to acquire the abilities required for awarding a certificate, the Graduate Course of Midwifery will organize the curriculum with the following policy.

  1. In order to acquire a wide variety of basic knowledge and basic skills, we have established three fields, "basic field", "practical field", and "integrated field". The "basic field" includes the midwifery basic area, "Practical field" includes the midwifery practice area and women's health field, and the "Integrated field" includes the midwifery integrated field, and subjects arranged accordingly.
  2. Arrange subjects and practical training in order to learn specialized knowledgesystematically and technical theory.
  3. Arrange subjects to develop educational abilities that enable midwives to demonstrate their expertise in the teaching assistance of midwifery. 
  4. Participatory group learning will be conducted to develop general-purpose abilities that are essential for collaboration with other occupations, such as problem-solving abilities, critical / logical thinking abilities, expressive abilities, and communication abilities.
  5. Research subjects will be established to train an attitude that will lead to the creation of new value in midwifery in response to the needs of society integrating the acquired knowledge and skills.

The Graduate Course of Midwifery aim to train midwife who have high-quality midwifery skills and practical skills can provide care and support with an emphasis on humanity contributing to the advancement of health and medical care related to human sexuality and the birth of life.

We are looking for new students with the following qualities through learning based on nursing practice in undergraduate schools.

  1. Those who have sufficient basic nursing ability.
  2. Those who have a strong interest and enthusiasm for reproductive health / rights.
  3. Those who have high communication skills.
