Educational Purposes

In accordance with School Philosophy Graduate School of Public Health, the aim is to train highly specialized professionals who can take a leadership role in solving public health issues based on scientific judgment.

Three Policies of Master’s Degree Program

The Graduate Graduate School of Public Health 's Master’s Degree Program aims to train highly specialized professionals who can take a leadership role in solving public health issues based on scientific judgment. A degree will be awarded to those who have acquired the following abilities, completed the required number of credits, and passed the review of their research report.

  1. Students will acquire knowledge of the five basic areas of public health and also deepen their learning in their specialized field.
  2. Students have acquired the competencies set by this graduate school.
  3. Students can conduct research on the issues they found and they build evidence.
  4. To make people healthy, students can find a solution based on a problem-solving approach.
  5. As a Change Agent, students can contribute to building a healthy and better society.

In order to enable students to acquire the abilities set forth in the degree awarding policy, Division of Public Health (Master’s Degree Program) has organized its curriculum according to the following policy.

  1. In the compulsory subjects, basic subjects of epidemiology, biostatistics, social behavior science, health policy / medical management, and occupational environmental health will be set up in order to acquire the five basic areas of public health.
  2. In the elective courses, specialized courses in each area will be set up in order to deepen the learning of the five basic areas.
  3. In order to acquire the basic skills of research and practice, common subjects such as "Public Health Ethics" and "Introduction to Survey and Research Methods" and applied practical training are provided.
  4. In order to acquire a problem-solving approach and competencies, "Problem Research" and "MPH Seminar" are compulsory subjects.

The Graduate School Graduate School of Public Health 's Master’s Degree Program aims to train highly specialized professionals who can take a leadership role in solving public health issues based on scientific judgment. We seek and select students who, through undergraduate education and other studies and work experience, have the following motivation, qualities, and abilities:

  1. He has an awareness of public health issues and has high potential as an expert.
  2. There is a willingness to communicate with each other and learn together.
  3. Equipped with the basic academic skills to engage in research and practical activities, and able to think logically.
  4. Willingness to work on solving practical problems in public health.

Three policies for the doctoral program

The Graduate School Graduate School of Public Health Doctoral Program aims to train senior leaders with leadership and excellent research abilities who can drive problem-solving. A degree will be awarded to students who have acquired the following abilities, completed the required number of credits, and passed the thesis defense and examination.

  1. Students have mastered the five basic areas of public health and are deeply pursuing specialized areas.
  2. Students have acquired the competencies set by this graduate school.
  3. Students can plan research on the issues they find theirselves and lead the team to carry them out.
  4. In order to contribute to the construction of a healthy and good society, problems can be solved according to a problem-solving approach.
  5. Students can publish and disseminate their own research and practice in papers.
  6. As a Change Agent, students can drive the building of a healthy and better organization and society.

In order to enable students to acquire the abilities set forth in the degree awarding policy, Division of Public Health (Doctoral Program) has organized its curriculum according to the following policy.

  1. The general subjects will cover the five basic areas of public health and include compulsory subjects to help students acquire the competencies required for the doctoral program.
  2. In the elective compulsory subjects, specialized subjects will be set up in order to deeply pursue each field (epidemiology / biostatistics, occupational environmental health science, social behavioral science).
  3. In the elective courses, specialized courses in each field will be set up in order to further deepen the field of study and enhance cross-disciplinary abilities.
  4. In order to acquire problem-solving approaches, research planning, leadership skills, and thesis writing skills, "Special Research," "Research Projects," "Doctor's Seminars," and other elective compulsory subjects will be established.
  5. "Special lectures" will be set up as elective compulsory subjects in order to enhance international applicability and specialization in the five basic areas.

The Graduate School Graduate School of Public Health Doctoral Program aims to train senior leaders who possess leadership and excellent research abilities and who can drive problem-solving. We seek and select students who, through their studies and work experience, possess the following motivation, qualities, and abilities:

  1. He has a certain amount of experience related to public health and a clear awareness of the problem that he wants to solve, and has excellent future potential.
  2. There is cooperation in learning together with a purpose and working on public health.
  3. Has basic academic ability and logical thinking ability to engage in research and practical activities as a leader.
  4. Have the communication skills necessary to realize public health.
  5. There is a clear desire to become a Change Agent.
