In the Division of Orthoptics of Orthoptics, we aim to foster orthoptist with advanced expertise and skills related to "sight" , who can play an active role not only in the medical field but also as researchers and educators.

Overview of the Division of Orthoptics

We established Division of Orthoptic as independent major of Graduate School firstly in Japan. We aim to revitalize the field of orthoptics related to diseases such as strabismus and amblyopia, and cultivate orthoptist who have acquired advanced Ophthalmology testing skills. We cultivate human resources who can play an active role as researchers and educators in field of Ophthalmology examinations and Team Approach to Health Care by acquiring testing skills and leadership skills.

Completion Requirements

Doctoral and Master's Degree Programs

  1. Students must be enrolled in school for at least 2 years. However, regarding the period of enrollment, for those who have achieved excellent research achievements, it is sufficient to enroll in the course for one year or more.
  2. Students must acquire the required number of credits from the subject of the major.
  3. Stundets must receive the necessary research guidance.
  4. Students must pass the master's thesis examination and test.

Doctoral degree program

  1. Students must be enrolled in school for at least 3 years. However, regarding the period of enrollment, for those who have achieved excellent research achievements, it is sufficient to enroll in the course for one year or more. In addition, students must have been enrolled for at least 3 years, including the period of enrollment in Master's program or Professional degree Program.
  2. Students must acquire the required number of credits from the subject of the major.
  3. Stundets must receive the necessary research guidance.
  4. Students must pass the dissertation examination and test.
