Two students from Faculty of Medical Technology received the Outstanding Presentation Award at the 20th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Clinical Laboratory Science Education (Itabashi Campus

At the 20th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Clinical Laboratory Science Education, held on August 27th (Thursday) and 28th (Friday), 2026, at the Kyushu University School of Medicine Centennial Hall and Alumni Hall (Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture), Yuki Iwamoto (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) and Hana Oshikawa (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) received the Outstanding Presentation Award.

This academic society is comprised of universities, junior colleges, vocational schools, and specialized training colleges across Japan that serve as training facilities Clinical laboratory technician. Its purpose is to contribute to the health and welfare of the nation through the continuous development of clinical laboratory science in Japan. This time, the conference was held under the theme of "Clinical Laboratory Science: Towards the Next 20 Years! - The Future We Aim For and the Challenges to Realizing It."

Mr. Iwamoto is conducting research with Takahiro Kameda, Faculty of Medical Technology Department of Clinical Laboratory Science Senior Assistant Professor of our university, and Ryunosuke Okawa from the Department of Clinical Analysis and Molecular Biology, Professor Graduate School Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Tokyo University of Science, and his collaborative research team. He presented on "The Effect of Lipoprotein Composition Ratio on the Binding Dynamics of Serum Amyloid A," clarifying that under conditions of low concentrations of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), the binding ratio of serum amyloid A (SAA) shifts relatively from HDL to low-density lipoprotein (LDL).

Ms. Oshikawa is conducting research in collaboration with Senior Assistant Professor Kameda and Senior Assistant Professor Atsushi Miyashita of the Institute of Medical Mycology at this university. She presented her findings on "Analysis of Electrophoresis of Lipofolin in Silkworm Hemolymph," in which she analyzed the lipid fraction of lipofolin, which is responsible for lipid transport in silkworm hemolymph, using lipoprotein electrophoresis. She reported on the differences in fractionation patterns compared to human lipoproteins, as well as the fluctuations in lipid signals associated with the growth stages of silkworms.

These presentations were highly praised, and out of a total of 57 student presentations from many universities across Japan, only 10 were selected for the Outstanding Presentation Award. Two presentations from our university were among those that received this award. We look forward to seeing the continued success of these two students.
