Students from Department of Clinical Laboratory Science participated in the Student Forum at the 36th International Federation of Medical Laboratory Sciences (IFBLS2026) atItabashi Campus

From September 23rd (Wed) to 27th (Sun), 2026, the 36th International Federation of Medical Laboratory Sciences (IFBLS2026) was held at Makuhari Messe (Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture), and four students, Nagito Tago (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), Haruka Domae (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), Keito Watanabe (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), and Yuzu Tanaka (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), participated in the student forum.
This conference is an international event bringing together Clinical laboratory technician, laboratory physicians, teachers, and students from around the world. This was the third time the conference was held in Japan, and the first time in 10 years. Approximately 1,000 people from 31 countries and regions participated. During the conference, symposia and forums were held on themes such as hematology, immunology, and education, fostering lively exchanges of opinions and international exchange.
Ms. Tago and Ms. Domae were selected as representatives for the student forum, where they discussed with student representatives from various countries what will be required of Clinical laboratory technician in the future, and reported on their findings. In the group discussion, Ms. Watanabe and Ms. Tanaka, who were attending as observers, also joined in, and all four exchanged opinions with students from different countries. It was a valuable opportunity for students from different countries and educational systems to communicate in English and deepen their understanding of the future of clinical laboratory technology.
This experience provided the students with an opportunity to learn about the global landscape of clinical testing and broaden their international perspectives. We have high expectations for the continued success of these four individuals.
