On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the first nutrition seminar for student athletes and staff of 2026 was held at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus, led by Mayumi Kasai, Senior Assistant Professor at the university's Sports Medicine and Science Center. The seminar, themed "The Basics of Diet Necessary for Athletes," was held for student athletes and team staff enrolled at Teikyo University and Teikyo Heisei University, with approximately 50 attendees including online participants.
This seminar covered the importance of "training, nutrition, and rest" in improving athlete performance, as well as the roles of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, and how to consider nutrition intake according to the characteristics of the sport and training volume. In particular, practical content was explained, such as the importance of snacks before and after training, the timing of protein intake to promote muscle recovery and synthesis, and points to consider when making daily food choices. Participating students commented, "I learned for the first time that it is important to take in more protein when losing weight, which was very informative," and "I now understand specifically what I should eat to recover from my current injury," making it a fulfilling seminar. The Sports Medicine and Science Center will continue to verify and research its daily activities and widely share its results and knowledge with society.
