On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the event "Let's Make Daejabingsu Together!" was held at OUCHI COMMONS on Hachioji Campus of Teikyo University. This event was planned and managed by the OUCHI Concierge, which operates from OUCHI COMMONS and Center for Japanese language Education, with the aim of supporting international students and promoting interaction among students. A total of 45 international and Japanese students participated. Daejabingsu is a South Korea shaved ice dessert that is enjoyed by sharing it in a large bowl, and is made with a base of frozen milk and other ingredients.
On the day of the event, students split into groups to buy sweets for toppings and, while consulting with each other, created their own unique bingsu (shaved ice dessert). The venue was filled with excitement as the students presented their completed decorations and, at the end, shared photos and determined the grand prize winner for each group. It was an opportunity for international and Japanese students to deepen their exchanges, not only by experiencing South Korea food culture but also by discussing each other's cultures and favorite foods. Moving forward, our university will continue to actively implement initiatives to promote exchanges between international and Japanese students in order to realize Educational Guidelines of "International perspectives."
