On Monday, June 22, 2026, the Teikyo University Teikyo Technology Transfer Center hosted a "Challenge to TOKYO STARTUP GATEWAY!! 400-Character Workshop" at Hachioji Campus. This workshop was conducted as part of the university's startup creation support program, and focused on the challenge of participating in "TOKYO STARTUP GATEWAY," a business contest organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The workshop featured Shinsuke Yokoyama, CEO of Unibel Co., Ltd. and an alumnus of the contest, as Senior Assistant Professor.
On the day of the event, in addition to a lecture and talk session by Mr. Yokoyama, participants worked on creating a "400-character idea" required for entry into the contest, while organizing their own interests and concerns. Mr. Yokoyama spoke about his own entrepreneurial experience and his approach to turning business ideas into reality, and participants took their first steps towards entrepreneurship while experiencing the process of concretizing their ideas.
Students who participated commented that they "gained new insights" and that it "gave them an opportunity to re-examine their awareness of challenges and their future direction."
Since 2023, our university's Teikyo Technology Transfer Center has been working to create and support the growth of startups based on university-developed technologies and research results. Furthermore, Teikyo University awards the title of "Teikyo University Venture" to university-launched venture companies that utilize research results and human resources. Moving forward, Teikyo University will continue to hold startup-related events and workshops both on and off campus, working to commercialize and implement the research results and ideas of faculty, staff, and students.
