On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, a group of researchers from the International University of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City, visited the Institute of Medical Mycology (TIMM) at Teikyo University for the purpose of research exchange.
This visit was conducted as part of discussions toward future research collaboration and the conclusion of an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding).

On that day, participants included Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai, Deputy Director of the Infectious Disease Research Center at the university and Associate Professor in the Faculty of Biotechnology, and Nguyen Bao Quoc, Associate Professor at the Institute of Biotechnology and Environment at Nong Lam University and Director of the university library.
From Teikyo University, Professor Koichi Makimura, Deputy Director of the Institute for Medical Mycology, and Senior Assistant Professor Atsushi Miyashita of the same institute, introduced the "silkworm model," which is used in research on infectious diseases such as fungi. This model is attracting attention as an alternative to animal experiments, and there was a lively exchange of opinions on its usefulness and future research developments.
The visiting researchers showed great interest in the silkworm model and expressed their intention to develop a similar research system in their own countries in the future. Discussions also took place regarding the possibility of future collaborative research and international exchange, resulting in a fruitful exchange.

The Institute for Medical Mycology at Teikyo University will continue to promote exchanges with overseas researchers and work towards further developing research collaborations.
