The Hino City Board of Education participated in the "Educational Practice Reflection" course at Graduate School Graduate School of Teacher EducationHachioji Campus

On Thursday, May 14, 2026, a lecture for the required course "Educational Practice Reflection" in the Graduate Graduate School of Graduate School of Teacher Education was held at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus. Four representatives from the Hino City Board of Education, with whom Teikyo University has a comprehensive agreement, participated. This participation was realized through the Board of Education's desire to "shift their perspective on training" for teachers and staff, by allowing them to experience the lecture firsthand.

The theme of this lecture, "Educational Practice Reflection," refers to the process by which teachers objectively reflect on their own lessons and interactions with students, and use that reflection to improve their teaching. It goes beyond mere "reflection" on success or failure, aiming to autonomously enhance advanced practical teaching skills that can address the complex challenges of the educational setting by deeply introspecting (reflecting) on one's own intentions and teaching philosophy, such as "why did I choose that particular statement or instruction?" In the lecture, graduate students were divided into several teams and conducted an interactive workshop using image cards with various illustrations, focusing on success stories from the educational setting. Members of the Hino City Board of Education also participated in this workshop, allowing them to experience firsthand the importance of the process of deep introspection.

As societal changes lead to a diversification of roles, teachers and school staff are required to constantly reflect on their own practices and "continue learning." As a hub to support this learning for local teachers and school staff, Graduate School of Teacher Education 's Graduate Graduate School of Teacher Education, which is a graduate school of education, has been entrusted with the regional center project of the National Institute for School Teachers and Staff Development (NITS) since 2026. As part of this project, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, we will conduct a "research-based reflection" training program for those active in the field of education, in which teachers will deepen their own "perspective" on education and explore the next steps.
Our university will continue to deepen its ties with neighboring municipalities, including those with whom we have comprehensive agreements, and contribute to the development of teachers who will lead the next generation and to the advancement of school education in the region.
