From January to March 2026, students from the Department of Tourism Faculty of Economics Department of Tourism Management, Teikyo University, were featured in the Hachioji City newsletter and a Japan Heritage promotion program at the request of the Hachioji City Public Relations and Promotion Division.
This project is part of the "Special Lectures on Tourism Management" offered by Department of Tourism Management Faculty of Economics As a member of the "Japan Heritage Supporter University," which was the first university in the Kanto region to be registered, Teikyo University Junior College Department of Tourism Management Professor in an interview, which was published in the January 1, 2026 issue of "Hachioji Public Relations." In the subsequent February 1, 2026 issue, an article was published in which two students visited the Okuda Dyeing Factory and the Tama Textile Craft Museum, experiencing and introducing dyeing and hand weaving.
These interviews were featured in a video program produced by the Hachioji City Public Relations and Promotion Division, titled "Japan Heritage 'Sōto Monogatari' Experience Tour," which aired on terrestrial digital channel 11, "J:COM Channel," for one month starting March 1st (Sunday).
In this course, we will continue to develop new experiential tools by further improving the "Mulberry City Hachioji Quiz Sugoroku" and expand our efforts to promote mulberry-based food tours. Through these initiatives, we aim to create a sustainable town that utilizes "Mulberry City" and "textiles" while expanding our collaboration with Hachioji City and various businesses within the city.
