At the 37th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Clinical Microbiology, held from February 13th (Fri) to 15th (Sun), 2026, at Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall (Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture), Dr. Shun Tamura, a postdoctoral researcher Teikyo University Institute of Medical Mycology, was selected for the Outstanding Presentation Award. This award recognizes the high regard for his medical mycology research and academic activities at the center. Professor Koichi Makimura, Deputy Head of Center of the center, commented, "Dr. Tamura's research has developed an extremely important and practical method for determining the effectiveness of the major antifungal drug AMPH-B, which cannot be measured using conventional internationally widely used methods. This research will enable the selection of effective treatments for fatal fungal infections, and is expected to save the lives of many patients."
Teikyo University Institute of Medical Mycology was reorganized on April 1, 2026 (Wednesday) and renamed the Teikyo University Institute for Medical Mycology. The Institute for Medical Mycology will continue to promote social contribution through research and educational activities.
