On Monday, March 2, 2026, the UNIVAS AWARDS 2025-26 awards ceremony, sponsored by the University Sports Association (UNIVAS), was held at Shinagawa Intercity Hall (Minato-ku, Tokyo), where Nanami Saeki (4th year, Faculty of Law) from Teikyo University's track and field team received the Para-Athlete of the Year Excellence Award.
Saeki has achieved brilliant results at the top level in Japan, including winning the 200m (T35 class) at the Japan Para Athletics Championships, winning the 100m and setting a new Japanese record in the long jump (T35 class) at the Japan Para Athletics Championships. Academically, he has also worked diligently on research in the Constitutional Law seminar and daily studies, and has been selected as a scholarship student for outstanding students, successfully balancing his athletic and academic pursuits.
Upon receiving the award, Saeki expressed her joy, saying, "I am happy to receive this award thanks to the support of so many people. I would be happy if this leads to more interest in para-athletics and disabilities."
Our university will continue to support the challenges of students who excel through sports and learning.
