On Wednesday, November 18, 2025, Teikyo University Center for General Education Visiting Professor Mina Matsumoto and her center and Okinaga Research Institute of Teikyo University Assistant Professor Shunta Shimotori held a special event "Talking with Businesspeople" at Teikyo University Hachioji Campus to hone their questioning and communication skills General Education.
This event, with the cooperation of the Tokyo Association of Small Business Entrepreneurs, was designed to help students hone their questioning and communication skills by having them ask business people questions about their problems in university life, job hunting, and post-graduation careers. Students could participate in the event regardless of their grade level, even if they were not enrolled in classes. While visiting the booths of participating companies, students asked a variety of questions to senior members of society, ranging from vague concerns about the future to specific details about work and employment, and engaged in exchanges with them. A graduate of the University, who had taken a four-year course on improving questioning skills as a participating company, also participated in the event.
Participating students commented, "I rarely have a chance to talk freely with people from companies, so it was a very good experience for me." "I had a scary image of job hunting, but after listening to the talk, it eased up a little. I would like to participate again because I was able to hear valuable information. Participating companies also commented that they were looking forward to seeing the participating students tomorrow, and that it was a valuable opportunity to talk with students who are about to enter the workforce. Matsumoto Visiting Professor reflected on the event, saying, "Business people with different perspectives from the faculty gave students insights. Shimotori Assistant Professor commented, "The opportunity to talk casually with business people about work and the future is very valuable. I would like students who have not found what they want to do to come to the next event.
