Kasumigaseki CampusProfessor Sugimoto and Assistant Professor Sueyoshi received the Travel Grant Award from South Korea Society of Hepato-Biliary Surgery and the Distinguished Paper Award from the International Pancreaticobiliary Society 2025

At the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Week 2025 and the 62nd Annual Meeting of the South Korea Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Society held in South Korea (Gyeongju), March 27 (Thu) ~ 29 (Sat), 2025, Maki Sugimoto of Okinaga Research Institute of Teikyo University Innovation Lab Professor and Takuya Sueyoshi of the same institute Assistant Professor gave a speech titled "Innovative artificial intelligence and machine learning based spatial computing AR navigation for open, lap, and robotic hepatectomy (open, laparoscopic, Innovative spatial computing AR navigation based on artificial intelligence and machine learning for robot-assisted hepatectomy" won the Travel Grant Award. In addition, we received the Distinguished Paper Award for the same presentation at South Korea the International Pancreatobiliary Conference 2025 (IPBM2025) & the 1st Asia-Pacific Pancreatobiliary Symposium held in Seoul on April 4 (Fri) and 5 (Sat) in Seoul. These awards are given to outstanding research presentations in the field of pancreatobiliary tract, and the research and innovative technologies of Professor Sugimoto and Assistant Professor Sueyoshi have been internationally recognized and awarded.

Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Week, organized by the South Korea Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Society, is the leading annual international scientific conference in the field of hepatobiliary and pancreatic Surgery with the aim of promoting the exchange of cutting-edge research and advances and encouraging insightful discussions on the theme of harmonizing tradition and innovation in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. It promotes research, education, and technology sharing in the field of international hepatobiliary and pancreatic Surgery. In fiscal 2024, there were 762 participants from 48 countries.
The International Pancreatobiliary Congress 2025 is a leading international scientific conference in the field of pancreatobiliary tract, hosted by the South Korea Pancreatobiliary Society and co-organized by the Japan Biliary Society, the Taiwan International Society of Pancreatobiliary Endoscopy, and the Thai Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, promoting research, education, and technology sharing in the international pancreatobiliary field. As an international conference, it serves as a place where experts gather and discuss the latest research results and technological advancements.

At each conference, the latest technologies and research findings in the field of pancreatic and biliary tract surgery were discussed. Professor Sugimoto and Assistant Professor Sueyoshi presented on the development of an innovative spatial computing surgical support system based on artificial intelligence for liver resection. This is expected to contribute to further advances in surgical support and improved patient safety. In accepting the award, Professor Sugimoto said, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in this research. I will continue to promote research and development activities at our institute and university." This award recognizes Professor Sugimoto and Assistant Professor Sueyoshi's many years of innovative technological development, and they have been selected for research grants such as the Teikyo University Advanced Research Promotion Grant (Incubation Grant) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C). We look forward to Professor Sugimoto and Assistant Professor Sueyoshi's continued success.
