Assistant Professor Sueyoshi and Professor Sugimoto received the Society Award at EAES2024

At the 32nd International Congress of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), held in Maastricht (Netherlands) from June 11th (Tue) to 14th (Fri), 2024, Assistant Professor Sueyoshi Takumi of the Innovation Lab Okinaga Research Institute of Teikyo University, and Professor Sugimoto Maki of the same institute, received the OR Ready Award for their presentation entitled "Enhancing the Depth Perception of Robotic Surgeons: Development of a VR-HMD Visual System."

The European Society for Endoscopic Surgery was founded in 1990 with the aim of promoting the scientific advancement and dissemination of Surgery and minimally invasive Surgery, and aims to promote the development of minimally invasive surgical techniques such as endoscopic surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and robot-assisted surgery, and to provide education and training in these techniques. The society regularly holds international conferences, building a network of experts and researchers in the field of endoscopic Surgery, including sharing the latest research results and techniques, and contributing to the standardization and quality improvement of Surgery surgery.
OR Ready is an international initiative in which medical professionals and organizations from around the world work together to improve the safety and outcomes of surgical patients. It calls on hospitals around the world to develop a safe surgical environment, contributing to improving patient safety.

Assistant Professor Sueyoshi's award-winning presentation concerned the development of a VR-HMD visual system using the domestically developed surgical support robot "SAROA" (Riverfield Corporation), which enhances the depth perception of robotic Surgery. This system displays 3D surgical images in real time on the VR-HMD, and is expected to improve Surgery 's sense of immersion and depth perception. It was recognized as part of the results of a joint research project between Okinaga Research Institute of Teikyo University and Riverfield. Upon receiving the award, Assistant Professor Sueyoshi said, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in this research. I will continue to promote research and educational activities at this institute and at our university." We look forward to Assistant Professor Sueyoshi's continued success in the future.
