Teikyo University Institute of Medical Mycology Marks 40 Years of Pioneering Research

In a significant milestone for Teikyo University, the Institute of Medical Mycology commemorated its 40th anniversary on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the esteemed Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. Established in 1983 as the Teikyo University Medical Mycology Research Center, this institution initially operated under the aegis of the School of Medicine. Over the years, it evolved into the Teikyo University Institute of Medical Mycology, aligning its focus with the dynamic landscape of mycology research.

Since its transformation in 1992, the institute has been at the forefront of groundbreaking research, spanning the development of diagnostic testing methodologies to the creation of therapeutic interventions for mycoses. Additionally, it plays a pivotal role in the vital task of cataloging, preserving, and distributing pathogenic fungal strains. At the heart of this celebration was a captivating lecture recounting the illustrious history and future potential of the Medical Mycology Research Center.
