In a heartwarming display of cross-cultural camaraderie, Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus played host to "Little Korea" on May 31, 2023. Organized by the dynamic student group "International Exchange Assistant," dedicated to supporting international students, the event aimed to foster deeper connections with Korean peers through an exploration of their rich culture. A total of 48 participants joined in the festivities. The evening commenced with enlightening presentations from the Korean international students, delving into the captivating realms of Korean idol history, must-visit tourist spots, culinary delights, and the intriguing disparities between Korean and Japanese collegiate life. As conversations flowed freely, groups effortlessly bonded, exuding an air of old friends reuniting.

A significant portion of the Korean attendees were Teikyo scholars, benefiting from the university's robust exchange program. Proficient in Japanese, they effortlessly bridged linguistic gaps. Japanese students, keen on delving into South Korean studies and culture, found their interests deepening through these interactions. The event provided a remarkable opportunity for friendships to blossom beyond borders. Reflecting on their experiences, Japanese participants expressed their newfound insights. "Interacting with international students allowed me to grasp a deeper understanding of Korea than what I could glean from the internet alone," remarked one student. Others echoed a sentiment of enthusiasm, eagerly expressing a desire for future events of a similar nature. The event's resounding success was palpable. Teikyo University remains committed to fostering a vibrant environment of international exchange on campus.
