Hachioji CampusTeikyo University Launches Innovative Collaboration with Nagaoka High School

Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture — On Friday, April 14, 2023, Teikyo University marked a significant milestone with the commencement of the 2023 Teikyo Nagaoka High School/University Collaborative Classes at Teikyo Nagaoka High School. This pioneering endeavor, slated to occur 16 times annually, unfolds in 100-minute sessions every Friday during the 6th and 7th period. Renowned faculty members from the university's Sports Medicine Center spearhead this initiative. In the upcoming academic year, the Department of Sport and Medical Science Faculty of Medical Technology will take the helm, ensuring a continuous and enriching experience for participants.

Tailored for second-grade students in Teikyo Nagaoka High School's Athlete Preparatory Course, the program sets out to deepen their understanding as athletes, enhance their competitive prowess, and forge early connections with their career trajectories. Each session is meticulously curated around distinct themes. Masayuki Iwade, Deputy Head of the Center for Sports Medicine and Science, and Director of the Sports Bureau at the university, led the inaugural classes. Attendees, including high school students and educators, lauded Professor Iwade's instruction. One participant noted, "It was a fulfilling class, providing valuable insights not only for my future in competition but also for life beyond." Teikyo University is committed to refining the curriculum of this collaborative venture and is dedicated to broadening its reach and impact in the future.
