On October 10th (Sat) and 11th (Sun), 2026, the Kikuchi Seminar from Faculty of Economics at Teikyo University participated in a regional revitalization project in collaboration with Tama City, Keio Corporation, and UR Urban Development Agency at the "Tama Lantern Festival 2026" held in Tama City, Tokyo. The Tama Lantern Festival is a local event organized primarily by local residents and young people. This year, approximately 200 "Vietnamese lanterns" and 700 "Tama New Lanterns" adorned the venue, and under the slogan "Let's light up fun, and that light will set the future in motion," the festival was bustling with many visitors.
The Kikuchi Seminar collaborated with the local community to set up a booth called "Xin Chao Cafe." The students offered free, freshly roasted Vietnamese coffee to visitors who walked to the venue while participating in a stamp rally, serving approximately 200 cups over two days. They also sold coffee to the general public, donating a portion of the proceeds to UNESCO.
On the day of the event, not only seminar students but also TAEP (Asian International Exchange Program) participants, general international students, Graduate School, and alumni took part, with a diverse group of people working together to run the event. Furthermore, students appeared on a local radio program to promote the event's appeal and activities. Through interaction with local residents, businesses, and local government officials, the participating students had a valuable opportunity to learn practically about regional revitalization, event management, and social contribution activities. The Kikuchi Seminar will continue to deepen its collaboration with Tama City and work on activities that contribute to the development of the local community.
