This grant program aims to improve the quality of research and child education practices that foster "language skills," and provides grants for outstanding research from universities, research institutions, and individuals involved in educational practice. It is a forum for researchers and educators who have received research grants from the Hakuhodo Education Foundation to present the results of their research conducted throughout the grant period. This time, Associate Professor, who received the Excellence Award, has a research theme titled "Elucidation of Visual Cognitive Functions Supporting Kanji Reading and Writing and Development of a Learning Support Program." In this research, he focused on the visual cognitive functions that support children's reading and writing of kanji, clarifying their developmental process and working on developing a program that leads to learning support. The research results were highly evaluated as new insights that support children's character acquisition. Upon receiving the award, Associate Associate Professor commented, "I am deeply honored to receive this prestigious award. Through this research grant, I was able to deepen my understanding of the challenges children face in reading and writing, as well as the realities of the educational field. I also realized that the research I have been working on so far in visual perception can be useful in supporting children. In the future, I will proceed with releasing the cognitive function development support app that I have developed, and work to realize even better support by expanding collaborations with new researchers."
Future research findings are expected to be implemented in society and contribute to educational settings.
