The Yoshimura Department of Tourism Management invited a guest speaker from JTB Corporation to give a lecture atHachioji Campus

On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Teikyo University (Hachioji Campus), a seminar led by Hisao Yoshimura of Teikyo University (Faculty of Economics, Department of Tourism Management, Professor) hosted a lecture featuring Ms. Mari Usui, Director of Public Relations at JTB Corporation, as a guest speaker. The Yoshimura Seminar conducts research on the future development and evolution of the tourism industry, focusing on themes such as tourism, travel, and regional revitalization. In addition to analyzing case studies of initiatives by companies and local governments, the seminar invites corporate professionals active on the front lines as guest speakers to provide students with opportunities to hear directly from them.

On the day of the event, lectures were given on the wide range of business areas of the JTB Group, as well as the challenges and future prospects facing the tourism industry. In addition, individual and group work was conducted on the theme of overtourism, using Kyoto Prefecture as a case study. Students discussed the challenges caused by the excessive concentration of tourists, the need to attract tourists to regional areas, and the initiatives and challenges related to accepting inbound tourists. Through these discussions, they deepened their understanding of the importance of tourism policies that balance the satisfaction of both residents and tourists, and the creation of sustainable tourist regions. Furthermore, since some students are about to start job hunting, a discussion was also held on the theme of "What are the differences between working adults and students?", providing an opportunity for them to think about career development.

During the Q&A session after the lecture, a variety of questions were asked, such as "Why did Ms. Usui join JTB?", "Were there any discrepancies between your expectations and reality after joining the company?", and "In what situations do you utilize AI in your work?", leading to a lively exchange of opinions. Our university will continue to provide opportunities for Practical learning education, as outlined in Educational Guidelines, and promote initiatives to deepen students' learning.
