On Friday, October 2, 2026, students from Faculty of Law at Teikyo University, led by Associate Professor Akira Parki of the Department of Department of Political Science Faculty of Law visited "RISCON TOKYO 2026," a crisis management industry exhibition held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo). This exhibition is one of the largest comprehensive crisis management exhibitions in Japan, bringing together products, technologies, and services that address various risks, including disaster prevention, business continuity planning (BCP) and business risks, and crime prevention and security. The Parki seminar is currently planning and preparing for their seminar exhibition, "The Present and Future of Disaster Preparedness Food," to be held at the university's general museum in December. The purpose of this visit was to investigate the current state of disaster prevention and mitigation, focusing on disaster preparedness food, in order to enrich the content of their exhibition.
On the day of the event, led by seminar leader Nanaka Amano (3rd year, Faculty of Law), the students visited booths of companies and organizations that handle disaster relief food supplies, receiving explanations from representatives about the product features, storage methods, and development efforts. They also introduced the planning of the seminar exhibition and their past activities, and requested cooperation in providing samples of emergency food supplies and materials for the actual exhibit.
Furthermore, based on our visit to Tama Waterproofing Technology Co., Ltd. (Hachioji City, Tokyo) in July of this year to conduct on-site research on private companies' SDGs initiatives, regional disaster prevention, and disaster preparedness, we visited their booth at the venue together with their representative. Through continuous collaboration with companies, we gained an opportunity to consider disaster prevention from multiple perspectives, while also gaining insight into the viewpoints of companies working on SDGs.
Sakuya Inoguchi (3rd year, Faculty of Law), who participated in this event, reflected, "By actually tasting emergency food supplies and hearing directly from company representatives, I was able to learn about the ingenuity and evolution of products that I wouldn't have known just by researching them. I want to organize the information and materials I gathered this time and use them to create an exhibit at the seminar exhibition that will make visitors feel closer to disaster preparedness." The Parki Seminar deepens its research on regional disaster prevention and disaster stockpiling through surveys of local governments, companies, and community organizations. Utilizing the knowledge and connections gained from this survey, they will widely disseminate information about disaster preparedness at the seminar exhibition in December.
