The Hosokawa Seminar from Department of Sport and Medical Science participated in the Tama Lantern Festival 2026 at theHachioji Campus.

On October 10, 2026 (Saturday), students from the seminar led by Assistant Professor Fumihiro Hosokawa Faculty of Medical Technology, Department of Sport and Medical Science Teikyo University, participated in the Tama Lantern Festival 2026, held at J smile Hakkakudo (Tama City, Tokyo).

The Tama Lantern Festival 2026 is an event that showcases the charm of the region through lanterns, allowing visitors to enjoy various activities and interact with one another. This particular activity was carried out in cooperation with the Tama City Developmental Support Office as part of a collaborative project between our university and Tama City. The aim was to provide local children with opportunities for physical activity and to support the proactive participation of junior and senior high school students in the community. In the morning, students operated booths offering physical activities using air mats and hula hoops, allowing participating children to experience the joy of physical activity while trying out various movements. In the afternoon, in cooperation with the Tama City Developmental Support Office, students supported booths run primarily by junior and senior high school students who utilize after-school day care services. At booths such as shooting galleries and board games, students were responsible for greeting and guiding visitors, assisting with operations, and providing appropriate support to enable the junior and senior high school students to participate proactively.
This activity provided students with an opportunity to gain both experience in planning and managing activities on their own initiative and experience in supporting others while respecting their autonomy. It was a valuable experience in putting into practice the sports instruction and coaching concepts they learned at university, and deepening their learning through interaction with local residents.

Our university will continue to value collaboration with local communities, including Tama City, and strive to provide students with practical learning opportunities and create opportunities for local children to participate in sports and social activities.
