The Kumai Seminar from Faculty of Economics visited a video production company and a sports broadcasting station.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, a seminar led by Associate Professor Toshio Kumai of the Department of Faculty of Economics, Department of Business Administration Economics, Teikyo University, visited IMAGICA Entertainment Media Service Co., Ltd. and J SPORTS Co., Ltd. for a company tour. The Kumai seminar focuses on "sports management," leveraging Associate Professor Kumai's extensive experience in the entertainment industry to provide students with opportunities to learn from industries, jobs, and companies they wouldn't normally have access to. This visit aimed to provide students with insights into the video and sports media industries and to encourage them to consider their future career paths.

At IMAGICA Entertainment Media Services Co., Ltd., students toured the post-production facilities responsible for the finishing touches on films, dramas, and animation. They observed color grading, where the color and brightness of the video are adjusted, and the MA room where audio editing takes place, learning about the process from start to finish. They also experienced recording narration to match the video, deepening their understanding of work involved in video production. At J SPORTS, students toured the broadcasting equipment and studios that support sports broadcasts. They also received explanations about the operational system that delivers sports broadcasts 24 hours a day and the broadcasting technology that supports live broadcasts. Associate Professor Kumai emphasized the importance of teamwork and the need for on-the-spot skills to deal with unexpected situations, stating that "preparation is 80% of the job."

Students who participated shared comments such as, "I learned that video and broadcasting are supported by the efforts of many people that are not visible from the outside," "Visiting the actual production site deepened my understanding of the video industry and was a good experience," and "As I prepare for job hunting, it gave me an opportunity to broaden my perspective on career paths." The Kumai Seminar will continue to provide practical learning opportunities through collaboration with companies and the industry, creating opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of the industry and proactively think about their careers.
