The calligraphy club was selected as the 7th place team at the 31st All Japan High School and University Calligraphy Exhibition and participated in the awards ceremony.

On Sunday, August 23, 2026, the awards ceremony for the "31st All Japan High School and University Calligraphy Exhibition" (sponsored by the Japan Calligraphy Institute and the Yomiuri Shimbun), which determines the grand prize winner of student calligraphy, was held at El Osaka (Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture). Teikyo University Calligraphy Club, which was selected as the 7th place team in the university division, was awarded a certificate of merit. In addition, Koko Otobuchi (4th year, Faculty of Liberal Arts) and Yuga Takimoto (2nd year, Faculty of Medical Technology), who won the Grand Prize, the highest award, were also honored and received certificates of merit and commemorative gifts.
This year, out of a total of 8,712 entries, only 65 works received the Grand Prize at the Calligraphy Exhibition, making it a highly competitive event. Among them, two members of our university's Calligraphy Club won the Grand Prize. Furthermore, eight members received the Calligraphy Exhibition Award, and eight received the Excellence Award, demonstrating the outstanding achievements of many club members.

Following these results, Kawaguchi Yuri (3rd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts), captain of the university's calligraphy club, commented, "This year, we had winners from all grades and all departments, and the number of winners has increased significantly from last year. Our team ranking was the same as last year, 7th place, but I feel that the club as a whole has grown. We will continue to encourage each other and aim for further improvement." Otobuchi, who won the Grand Prize, expressed her joy, saying, "I faced my work with the goal of winning the Grand Prize, and I was able to give shape to the culmination of my four years of hard work. I am grateful to the teachers and friends who supported me." Takimoto, who also won the Grand Prize, stated her aspirations for the future, saying, "I am happy to have received the Grand Prize. I will use this award as encouragement to continue to face each piece with care and refine my calligraphy." We ask for your continued warm support for the university's calligraphy club.
