The 12th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Sports Nutrition was held at our university's Hachioji Campus CampusHachioji Campus

The 12th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Sports Nutrition was held over two days, August 29th (Saturday) and 30th (Sunday), 2026, at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus. Approximately 1,600 people participated in the conference, including dietitians, registered dietitians, those involved in sports science and clinical practice, and Graduate School. The event also featured exhibitions by companies and organizations, as well as various seminars, providing an opportunity for exchange across fields and positions.

The association aims to contribute to the advancement and dissemination of sports nutrition, the improvement of athletes' performance, and the promotion of public health and the development of sports, through providing information on sports nutrition to the general public, promoting research, facilitating information exchange, and training personnel.

The conference, themed "Forging the Future of Sports Nutrition in “One’s way”," featured a keynote speech by Masayuki Iwade, Secretary General Sports Bureau of our university, and a special lecture by Masashi Yanagisawa, Director and Professor of the International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine at the University of Tsukuba. Through these presentations, the conference provided a platform for considering and discussing sports nutrition from multiple perspectives, ranging from improving performance in competitive sports to reporting on practical knowledge cultivated in schools and clinical settings. On the second day of the conference, a public lecture by Professor Shinji Sato of the Department of Sports Medicine, Faculty of Medical Technology Department of Sport and Medical Science was also held, making it a diverse and engaging event. In addition to educational lectures that took a multifaceted approach to sports nutrition, covering topics such as sleep, bone health, hypoxia, chrononutrition, and cardiovascular health/blood pressure, there were also programs that shared nutritional support tailored to the characteristics of each sport and practices from high-performance settings both domestically and internationally, fostering lively discussions that bridged research and practical application.

Maya Toraishi, Senior Assistant Professor at Teikyo University Institute of Sports Science & Medicine chair of the conference, expressed her gratitude to all participants of the highly successful conference and shared her aspirations for the future, saying, "It was a two-day event where people from diverse backgrounds involved in sports nutrition gathered, shared their experiences and knowledge, and learned from one another. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who supported the conference. I hope that the lessons learned and new connections made here will lead to practical application in each of your fields and be a step towards opening up the future of sports nutrition."

Going forward, our university will continue to actively develop initiatives that connect education and research with society.
